As part of the artist commissioning program New York Voices, Joe's Pub at The Public presents Estuary: an artist/mother story, a new show conceived and written by Jamie Leonhart and directed by Joanna Settle. Estuary's original music is co-written and arranged by Grammy-winner Michael Leonhart. This presentation of Estuary features a live band that includes Saskia Lane, Pauline Kim, Sara Phillips Budde and Katie Scheele. Performances will run Monday through Wednesday, November 1-3 at 7:00PM at Joe's Pub at The Public (425 Lafayette, NYC). Four-time Grammy nominee, singer/pianist Karrin Allyson, has confirmed the 9/18 release of 'Many a New Day (Karrin Allyson Sings Rodgers & Hammerstein)'. The 14-song collection features Allyson's romantic, sly and swinging take on songs that have become part of our cultural fabric, from 'Oh, What a Beautiful Morning' to 'Happy Talk' to 'I Cain't Say No' and numerous others. The collection, which marks the singer's debut on the Motéma label, features the distinctive pairing of Kenny Barron on piano and John Patitucci on bass (only the second time the two have recorded together.)
Steely Dan will be offering their New York fans an opportunity to hear the band's three decade plus record catalogue when Walter Becker and Donald Fagen take to The Beacon Theatre stage for an eight night residency starting October 6, 2015. The band has previously performed historic multi-night stands at The Beacon in 2009, 2011 and 2013, staging complete performance of several of their classic albums in their entirety along with “Popular Demand” and “Greatest Hits” evenings.
