The 2011 Festival of New American Musicals, a five-month musical theatre festival, will be held April 1 through August 28, 2011, throughout Southern California. Marcia Seligson, Bob Klein, and Linda Shusett are the Executive Producers of the annual festival, now in its fourth year. This year's Festival includes 16 world premieres, and an additional 10 west coast premieres.

On Monday, March 7, Segerstrom Center for the Arts (formerly the Orange County Performing Arts Center) announced its brand new Cabaret Series for the 2011 - 2012 Season, a year which also coincides with the Center's 25th Anniversary. The Center's Cabaret Season which will feature Audra McDonald, Stephen Sondheim, Chita Rivera, Paulo Szot, Steve Tyrell, and Andrea Martin with Seth Rudetsky.

Despite being a lesser-known composer to the average joe than, say, Bacharach or Mancini, Cy Coleman irrefutably built a solid, prolific career in popular music, which later led to an even more successful string of hits on the Broadway stage. In what is essentially a biographical history lesson set to his music, BROADWAY UP CLOSE & PERSONAL: A TRIBUTE TO CY COLEMAN--now performing through December 12 at the Orange County Performing Arts Center's Samueli Theater--combines an entertaining cabaret showcase with a truly engrossing symposium teaching Coleman 101. The show is hosted by Michael Kerker and Tony Winner David Zippel and features Broadway stars Jenifer Lewis, Jason Graae, and Tami Tappan Damiano.

Loesser wrote over 700 songs and five Broadway musicals and contributed music and lyrics to dozens of Hollywood films, and was awarded an Oscar, a Grammy, two Tony awards and a Pulitzer Prize along the way.
