Robert Harling's screenplay to the iconic film THE FIRST WIVES CLUB will come alive in New York tonight, October 13th, 2014 at 8pm for a one night-only benefit reading in the Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street), directed by Trip Cullman and featuring an all-star cast.
An all-new Dead Darlings, hosted by the acerbic Amanda Duarte, will feature actress/comedian Katina Corrao (Broad City, Kid Farm, VH1), writer Virginia Heffernan (New York Times, Matthew's Murder, The Underminer), musical comedian Adira Amram (The Party Machine, Night of the Living, Hot Tub) and artist Derek Rippe (Nickelodeon, Makin Fun).

All proceeds will benefit The Actors Fund's Phyllis Newman Women's Health Initiative, which provides "a safety net and a place to turn when women in the creative community are faced with critical health concerns." The evening is produced in arrangement with Paramount Pictures by The Indigo Theatre Project (Nick Gereffi, Artistic Director/Rachel Sussman, Executive Producer), a theater company that strives to unite passion with purpose by producing high-profile readings to benefit relevant charitable organizations. Outer Critics Circle, the organization of writers and commentators for media covering New York theatre announced today its award winners for the 2013-14 season in 24 categories.
Acclaimed Off-Broadway theater company Playwrights Horizons just held its annual Spring Gala on Monday evening, May 5 at the event space 583 Park Avenue. Titled 'IN THE BEGINNING', the evening honored the theater company's Founding Artistic Director Bob Moss. An artistic director, stage director and teacher for thirty-seven years, Bob founded Playwrights Horizons in 1971 and gave the theater its unique and enduring mission. Three years later, Bob moved the theater to then-derelict West 42nd Street. He founded the 42nd Street Gang, which, with the 42nd Street Development Corporation, envisioned and spearheaded the renovation and creation of 42nd Street's Theatre Row, and gave Playwrights a permanent home. He served as the company's Artistic Director for ten years through 1981. He was also the director of the Playwrights Horizons Theater School, an affiliate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. He continues to direct and teach at theaters and colleges across the country, and has mentored hundreds of young theater actors, writers and directors.

The Laurie Beechman theatre was filled to capacity on Monday, November 4th for the Emerson College BFA Showcase featuring the BFA Acting and BFA Musical Theatre Class of 2013. Industry professionals hoping to find new cast members for their next projects and Emerson Alumni showed up to support and welcome the talented group to show business.
