APAC Sets Midwinter Readings, Beginning 2/13

The award-winning Astoria Performing Arts Center has announced their Midwinter Reading Series, consisting of a play and a musical, that will be presented at the Queens Council on the Arts, supported by grants from the Dramatist Guild Fund and the Department of Cultural Affairs.

Montego Glover, Chip Zien, Anne L. Nathan & More Join Cast of IT SHOULDA BEEN YOU on Broadway!

It Shoulda Been You producers Daryl Roth, Scott Landis, Jane Bergere and Jayne Baron Sherman announced today that Tony Award nominee Montego Glover (Memphis), Josh Grisetti (Peter and the Starcatcher), Michael X. Martin (The Bridges of Madison County), Anne L. Nathan (Once), Nick Spangler (Book of Mormon) and Chip Zien (Into the Woods) will join the cast of the new musical comedy, directed by David Hyde Pierce. They join previously announced stars Tyne Daly, Harriet Harris, Sierra Boggess, David Burtka, Lisa Howard, and Edward Hibbert, forming a blissful marriage of theatrical luminaries.

Producers Daryl Roth, Scott Landis, Jane Bergere, Jayne Baron Sherman and John O'Boyle announced today that It Shoulda Been You, a new musical comedy directed by David Hyde Pierce in his Broadway directorial debut, will open this spring at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre (256 West 47th Street). With an original book & lyrics by Brian Hargrove and music by Barbara Anselmi, It Shoulda Been You puts a refreshingly modern spin on the traditional wedding comedy, proving that when it comes to wedding day insanity, it's all relative. Tony and Emmy Award-winner Tyne Daly and Tony Award-winner Harriet Harris headline a cast of Broadway favorites that also includes Sierra Boggess, David Burtka, Lisa Howard, Edward Hibbert and Steve Rosen. It Shoulda Been You, which had a sold-out premiere at New Jersey's George Street Playhouse, begins previews on Broadway on March 17, 2015, with an opening night date set for Tuesday, April 14, 2015.

MTF Presents 4x15 - ROUND FOUR 10/13

On Monday, October 13 at 8:30PM four new musicals will be presenting 15 minute excerpts for an audience and a panel of industry professionals. Each show will receive a 5-hour block of rehearsal time at the Factory. A cast of volunteer performers will then have 15 minutes to present each excerpt before an audience and a panel of industry professionals.

Carnegie Hall, with medici.tv, to Offer Free Live Webcasts of Four Concerts

A new partnership between Carnegie Hall and medici.tv will make live webcasts of Carnegie Hall concert presentations available to audiences for the first time, showcasing performances by some of the world's most celebrated artists. A series of four free webcasts via medici.tv from Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage begins on Tuesday November 4 at 8 p.m. EST with a recital by mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato and pianistDavid Zobel. DiDonato-one of the most beloved singers of her generation-will perform a program of Venetian and Venetian-themed songs and arias from the Baroque through the 20th century. The lineup continues on TuesdayNovember 18 at 8 p.m. with acclaimed violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter leading The Mutter Virtuosi, in a program that includes the U.S. premiere of André Previn's Violin Concerto No. 2 as well as Vivaldi's The Four Seasons. On Saturday November 22 at 8 p.m., the dream team of violinist Leonidas Kavakos and pianist Yuja Wang perform music by Schumann, Brahms, Respighi and Stravinsky. The series of webcasts from the historic venue culminates on Tuesday December 9 at 8 p.m. with young Russian piano virtuoso Daniil Trifonov in works by Bach (arranged by Liszt), Beethoven and Liszt. Following each live webcast, free replay of these concerts will be available to online audiences on medici.tv for another 90 days, playable worldwide on all internet-enabled devices, including smart phones, tablets, Chromecast, computers and smart TVs.

New York Theatre Barn's The Choreography Lab Continues Tonight

In the September installment of New York Theatre Barn's The Choreography Lab, three choreographers will present new production numbers created in conjunction with three composer/lyricists. Jenna Leigh Green, Josh Tolle and Jen Eden Complete Casting of BROADWAY'S EPIC FAIL

Jennifer Leigh Green (Broadway's Wicked, Bare, TV's Sabrina the Teenage Witch) and Josh Tolle (NYMF's Searching for Romeo) will join Broadway and Off-Broadway talent in BROADWAY'S EPIC FAIL, a two night-concert to bring you more songs from movies that should never be musicals. The evenings will be hosted by Jen Eden.

The Canadian Opera Company Presents MADAMA BUTTERFLY, 10/10-31

The Canadian Opera Company's beloved production of Puccini's heartbreaking masterpiece of love, longing and loss, Madama Butterfly, comes to the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts this October. An exquisite production by Canadian theatrical legend Brian Macdonald, designed by Susan Benson with lighting by Michael Whitfield, the COC'sMadama Butterfly has become a Toronto favourite, playing to sold-out audiences at its 1990 premiere and subsequent revivals in 1994, 1998, 2003 and 2009. Madama Butterfly is sung in Italian with English SURTITLESTM and runs for 12 performances on October 10, 11, 15, 18, 19, 21, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30 and 31, 2014.
