La MaMa, the world-renowned downtown theatre founded by the late Ellen Stewart, will celebrate is 50th anniversary season in 2011-12 -- entitled 'Homecomings' - with a two day celebration on October 16th and 17th 2011: The La MaMa 50 World Block Party and The La MaMa 50 Gala. The festivities kick off with the La MaMa 50 World Block Party on Sunday, October 16 from 2 to 6pm on the block of East 4th Street (between the Bowery and Second Avenue in Manhattan) that is home to La MaMa's three performance spaces, and where Ms. Stewart herself resided for many years before her death in January 2011.

Music for a City, Music for the World: 100 Years with the San Francisco Symphony, the history of the San Francisco Symphony will be published in September 2011 by Chronicle Books, coinciding with the opening of the Symphony's 2011-12 Centennial Season.

Bryn Mawr College's Performing Arts Series moves into high gear for the 2011-2012 season as it presents five music, dance, and theatre performances that have never been seen or heard in the region. The season begins with a celebrated Celtic singer, the Philadelphia area premiere of a highly touted one-man New York theatre sensation, and a renowned classical quartet. The season will close with the remount of a groundbreaking John Jasperse Company piece and a rare performance with the women of the exhilarating Rennie Harris Puremovement, in a program put together just for the college.

Over the next 12 months, Performance Space 122 will leave our 30-year home temporarily while our building undergoes a much-needed interior transformation initiated and funded by the City of New York, the Department of Cultural Affairs, New York City Council. Designed by Deborah Berke and Partners, renovations to the interior will be aimed at bringing the building up to meet current code requirements and LEED silver standards.

Continuing a proud history of commissioning and performing new music, Music Director Kent Tritle leads the renowned Musica Sacra Chorus in Messages to Myself, a program of new works for a cappella chorus on Friday May 13, 2011 (8pm) at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center.
