This year's 56th Annual Drama Desk Awards, scheduled to take place in May, will undergo a major overhaul designed to enhance its national visibility and outreach and provide all segments of New York Theater a larger national footprint than ever before. Announcement of those changes were made public yeterday, February 24, at a News Conference in the Inc Lounge. As reported, one of these changes includes the televising of the ceremony on Ovation, hosted by Harvey Fierstein.

ROLEX Career Transition For Dancers 25th Anniversary Silver Jubilee was a complete sell out with everyone of the 2,700 seats at City Center filled. Over 800 guests went on the the Hilton for the Anniversary supper, the live luxury auction and dancing with the dancers. The evening raised a cool $ 1.2 Million which will go to CTFD's scholarship programs. Allen Brill, ROLEX USA, CEO & President committed to presenting the annual Jubilee for three more years.

Last night, October 25th, James Goldman and Stephen Sondheim's never-before-staged Evening Primrose took a one-night-only bow to benefit the St. George's Society of New York 's Anglo-American Cultural Awards at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College. The production starred Candice Bergen, John McMartin, Sean Palmer, Bill Duell, John Windsor Cunningham, and Jessica Grove. The Career Transition For Dancers Awards for Outstanding Contributions to the World of Dance will be given to the organization's founders: ACTORS' EQUITY ASSOCIATION, AMERICAN GUILD OF MUSICAL ARTISTS, SCREEN ACTORS GUILD; as well as an award each to THE BARTH FAMILY and the CTFD President CYNTHIA G. FISCHER. Also at the gala the Capezio Ballet Makers Dance Foundation will present TRISHA BROWN with the 59th annual Capezio Dance Award.

Amid an electrifying evening of dance by the greatest talents of Broadway and film, the 2010 Fred & Adele Astaire Award winners were announced at the 28th annual awards ceremony at the Gerald W. Lynch at John Jay College. The Douglas Watt Lifetime Achievement Award named for the late esteemed critic and co-founder of the Awards was presented to the legendary director and choreographer Kenny Ortega by Grammy winner Roberta Flack. Host for the evening was Ben Vereen.
