Arena Stage Presents THE ARABIAN NIGHTS 1/14-2/20/11

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater is delighted to present The Arabian Nights, written and directed by Tony Award winner Mary Zimmerman (Metamorphoses). The production, presented in association with Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Kansas City Repertory Theatre and Lookingglass Theatre Company, has been recognized as "Zimmerman's most theatrically complete and perfect creation" (Chicago Tribune).

Huntington Theatre Company To Present Reading Of THE LUCK OF THE IRISH 2/3

The new play THE LUCK OF THE IRISH by Huntington Playwriting Fellow Kirsten Greenidge Bossa Nova will be read Thursday, February 3 at 7pm as part of the Huntington Theatre Company's Breaking Ground reading series. Obie Award winner Melia Bensussen Circle Mirror Transformation directs. The reading, located at the Huntington Rehearsal Hall, is free and open to the public, though reservations are required as seating is limited.

CSC Presents HAROLD BLOOM: ON SHAKESPEARE’S LATE & LOST WORK Benefit 2/7

Harold Bloom, America's leading literary critic and author of the best-seller 'Shakespeare: The Invention of the Human," will join Classic Stage Company Artistic Director Brian Kulick in a rare public appearance on Monday evening, February 7 at 7 pm at CSC (136 East 13th Street) as a special one-night-only event to benefit CSC's ongoing Shakespeare programming.

Michael Feingold Play Kicks Off Direct Art Take Two Programming

Direct Arts is proud to announce the new season of its acclaimed double bill of theater and film, Take Two, which will begin on Tuesday, January 11th at 7PM with a presentation of Jeff Sousa's short film THE HIROSAKI PLAYERS and a staged reading of JAPANOIR by noted Village Voice theater critic Michael Feingold.

Rep Stage Presents AN ALMOST HOLY PICTURE, 2/2-20

Rep Stage, the professional Equity theatre in residence at Howard Community College (HCC), continues its 18th season with Heather McDonald's 'An Almost Holy Picture,' directed by Tony Tsendeas and featuring Michael Stebbins, Rep Stage's producing artistic director. Freely drawn from Pamela Ward's story 'The Hairy Little Girl,' 'An Almost Holy Picture' follows the odyssey of former minister Samuel Gentle as he travels from Massachusetts to New Mexico - and from despair to triumph - heeding a mysterious voice. 'An Almost Holy Picture' opens February 2 and runs through February 20, 2011 in the Studio Theatre of the Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center (HVPA) on the HCC campus. Chuck Cooper, Daniel Breaker, Patina Miller, Sharon Washington, Daniel Gerroll, John Douglas Thompson and Sherry Boone have been cast in Lost in the Stars, the second Encores! production of the New York City Center season, running February 3 - 6 at City Center. Lost in the Stars has music by Kurt Weill and book and lyrics by Maxwell Anderson. It will be directed by Gary Griffin and choreographed by Chase Brock, with music direction by Rob Berman.

New Rep Theatre Announces Casting Updates For AFTERLIFE: A GHOST STORY

New Repertory Theatre, in residence at the Arsenal Center for the Arts, is excited to be a part of the National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere of afterlife: a ghost story. Steve Yockey's poetic play follows a young couple in the process of grieving, who tumble into an alternate reality, are forced to confront the ghosts that haunt them, and ultimately must decide what their afterlife will be. Directed by Kate Warner, afterlife: a ghost story will open for the press on Monday, January 17, 2011 and run through Sunday, February 6, 2011 in the Charles Mosesian Theater.
