Today at Goodspeed's 8th annual Festival of New Artists, the two-time Tony Award-winning theatre announced plans for the production of a new musical, Snapshots: A Musical Scrapbook. This original tuner is about trusting your heart and believing in your memories. With Book by David Stern and Music and Lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, the creator of nearly a dozen hit musicals it is unique storytelling at its best. The production will run this fall at the Norma Terris Theatre in Chester, Connecticut, Goodspeed's home for new musicals.

In partnership with the Johnny Mercer Foundation, Goodspeed will proudly offer established and emerging writers the unique opportunity to research, develop, and create new musicals.Michael Price, Executive Director of Goodspeed Musicals, says of the ground-breaking initiative, "Goodspeed Musicals' unique focus is musical theatre so it is fitting that we are finally able to realize the long-held dream of establishing a home for the creators of new musicals. Two time Tony Award-winning Goodspeed Musicals, under the leadership of Executive Director Michael P. Price, is delighted to announce its Golden Anniversary season at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, Conn. The 50th season includes three very special musicals that are sure to please theatregoers: the charming collegiate comedy Good News will run from April 12 - June 22; Jerry Herman's beloved Hello, Dolly! will run from June 28 - September 8; and Frank Loesser's enchanting Broadway hit The Most Happy Fella will run from September 20 - December 1, 2013.
"To the cheers of many, on June 18, 1963 the footlights were once again lit on the Goodspeed Opera House stage. And now, fifty years later, we are in awe that so much has happened in and because of this gem of a building. It truly was an impossible dream that, from this tiny stage, the world of American musical theatre would be changed forever. At this time, Goodspeed Musicals regrets to inform you that, due to her recent injuries on the set of "The Good Wife," Kristin Chenoweth will not be able to attend their gala, as she is at home recuperating. However, the show will go on as planned, with Broadway, film, and television star Alan Cumming accepting the award in her absence and a Special Tribute Performance by Tony- and Grammy-nominated composer Andrew Lippa. They will be joined by Goodspeed alums Kirsten Wyatt (Gooch in Goodspeed's Mame) and Khris Lewin (Goodspeed's My One and Only.)
