The Monterey Jazz Festival on Tour 55th Anniversary Celebration makes its way to Segerstrom Center for the Arts on January 13 in the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall. The all- star ensemble will perform classic jazz and original compositions by critically acclaimed, Grammy Award-winning artists: bassist and musical director Christian McBride, vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater, saxophonist Chris Potter, trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire, pianist Benny Green and drummer Lewis Nash.

Saxophonist Jimmy Heath first appeared at the Blue Note in 1984 and has become a regular throughout the club's 31 year history. He has also celebrated three birthdays at the club for his 70th, 80th and 85th birthdays. Join us as we celebrate Jimmy's 86th birthday with his stellar big band featuring Antonio Hart (alto sax and flute), Sharel Cassity (alto sax and flute),Charles Davis (tenor sax), Andres Boiarsky (tenor sax and flute), Gary Smulyan (baritone sax), Frank Greene (trumpet), Greg Gisbert (trumpet), Freddie Hendrix (trumpet), Diego Urcola (trumpet), Steve Davis (trombone), Jason Jackson (trombone), John Mosca(trombone), Douglas Purviance (bass trombone), Jeb Patton (piano), David Wong (bass), and Lewis Nash (drums).

La Mama will continue its new Monday Nights at La Mama series -- a signature program of the company's 50th anniversary season -- on Monday, February 27 at 7:30 p.m. at La MaMa (74 E. 4 St.) with an evening of New World Music featuring Bjork percussionist Manu Delago and the 24-member Bjork choir, Graduale Nobili, along with veteran La MaMa musicians Peter Gordon and Kit Fitzgerald.

Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts announced today that President and CEO Terrence D. Jones will retire at the end of 2012 following 17 years of service leading the not for profit arts and education organization. Jones joined Wolf Trap in 1996 and during his tenure, has positioned the organization as a premier center for the integration of performing arts, education, technology, and environmental sustainability. Under Jones' leadership Wolf Trap has continued in the legacy of its founder, Catherine Filene Shouse, and has achieved numerous milestones and gained recognition as a top performing arts center.
