Ben Williams to Bring Prince Tribute to Harlem Stage, 12/11-12

Assembling a stellar cast of rising stars in the worlds of R&B, funk, soul, jazz and classical, Thelonious Monk Competition Winner and Grammy Award-winning bassist Ben Williams pays tribute to the musical legacy of Prince at Harlem Stage, December 11 and 12. Drawing inspiration from his iconic discography, Dearly Beloved - The Music of Prince will feature newly imagined arrangements and compositions that celebrate the virtuosity of Prince with a wide range of special guests including vocalists Goapele, Frank McComb and Christie Dashiell, tap dancer/choreographer Jason Samuels Smith, poet/emcee/vocalist W. Ellington Felton and additional surprise guests. A guest DJ will spin for the pre-performance mixer and after-party. As a preview to the December 12 performance of Dearly Beloved - The Music of Prince, Harlem Stage will present an intimate conversation with Ben Williams. He'll share his creative process forDearly Beloved and discuss the art of re-imagining and arranging works of famous artists.

Jazz Musicians Perform Christmas Favorites at Ware Center Tonight

Harrisburg native jazz pianist Steve Rudolph will perform with exceptional veteran jazz musicians, vocalist Dred 'Perky' Scott and bassist Hassan J.J. Shakur, in a program of jazz interpretations of Christmas favorites tonight, December 4, 2015, at 7:30 p.m. at the Ware Center. Favorites will include 'Let It Snow,' Mel Torme's 'Christmas Song,' 'Little Drummer Boy,' 'My Favorite Things,' 'Silent Night,' and many more. All tickets include complimentary beverage service which begins at 7:00 PM with the concert beginning at 7:30 PM. The Ware Center is located at 42 N. Prince Street, Lancaster.

SOPAC to Host GIANTS OF JAZZ 18, 11/28

The South Orange Performing Arts Center and John Lee & Jazz Legacy Productions proudly present Giants of Jazz 18, this year honoring jazz pianist George Cables, on Saturday, November 28 at 8 p.m. The night will include performances by jazz luminaries Gary Bartz, Don Braden, Tommy Campbell, Sharel Cassity, Larry Coryell, Sullivan Fortner, Roberta, Gambarini, Mark Gross, Russell Hall, Roy Hargrove, Billy Harper, Jimmy Heath, Freddie Hendrix, Vic Juris, Victor Lewis, Jeb Patton, Justin Robinson, Claudio Roditi, Wallace Roney, Ameen Saleem, Evan Sherman, Lenny White and Buster Williams. There may be late additions to the roster as more artists stop by to honor Mr. Cables.
