Olympics Gold Medallist Robin Cousins will star on the West End stage as Billy Flynn in the musical CHICAGO at the Garrick Theatre from 17 July, 10 days ahead of the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony. He will be in the show until 8 September, the day before the final day of the Paralympics.

Northern Stage, the pioneering New England theater company, announces its new production of Chicago. The company obtained special permission from the show's creators to produce an intimate ensemble-based version of the hit musical, directed by Northern Stage Producing Director Catherine Doherty and award-winning New York director-choreographer Connor Gallagher, who also developed original choreography for the show.
University of the Arts Presents CHICAGO, 3/22-25

The long-running hit musical Chicago will be performed by students at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia at the Merriam Theater on March 23, 24 and 25, 2012. In addition to evening performances on Friday March 23 and Saturday March 24 at 8pm and matinee performances on Saturday and Sunday at 2pm, there will be a preview performance on Thursday night March 22 at 8pm.

Darius Campbell will finish his current run as Billy Flynn in CHICAGO on Saturday 24 December. Terence Maynard will return to the role on Monday 26 December. America Ferrera and Amra-Faye Wright will star as Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly until Saturday 31 December. From Monday 2 January, the roles of Roxie and Velma will be played by Sarah Soetaert and Rachel McDowall. James Doherty will continue as Amos Hart, Jasna Ivir as Mama Morton and R. Whitehead as Mary Sunshine.

This year, Way Off Broadway's audiences have been taken to New York City with the area premiere of The Drowsy Chaperone, followed by a visit to the islands with Rodgers & Hammerstein's South Pacific, then a summer visit to 60's Baltimore with the mega-musical Hairspray. In short, Chicago is the best production ever presented by The Keeton Theatre. In fact, it's one of the finest versions of the tuneful musical we've ever seen on any stage, from any production company - and trust me, we've seen a bunch of 'em, ranging from Broadway and national touring companies to mountings from academic theaters, professional regional theaters and community playhouses.

On Saturday afternoon, August 27th, that revival will chalk up its 6,138th performance, surpassing A Chorus Line as Broadway's longest running American musical. Sure, there are three Broadway productions higher on the list of total performances - Les Miserables, Cats and the still-running Phantom of the Opera - but the distinction of Chicago being an American musical is a significant one.
