Sonoma State University Department of Theatre Arts & Dance presents 'The Bluebird,' by Alison Farina, based on the play by Maurice Maeterlinck.

Sonoma State University's Department of Theatre Arts & Dance announces its 2016 to 2017 performance season, showcasing the emerging talents of SSU students studying theater arts, dance and music. The season features four main stage productions and two presentations at Ives Hall appealing to the student body and the community. 

The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (CSO) and Music Director Louis Langree are pleased to announce details of the second installment of a three-year exploration of Maurice Maeterlinck's 1893 symbolist play, Pelleas et Melisande, a collaboration with director, production designer and visual artist James Darrah, one of the edgiest names in music and opera today. This artistic undertaking utilizes groundbreaking visual elements, complementing orchestral works by Schoenberg, Faure and Debussy, performed by the CSO.

Based on the epic from Mesopotamia, one of the oldest pieces of literature known to us today, 'Gilgamesh - A Musical Epic' is the story of how Man went from Animal to God, told in the form of an epic rock opera. It brings together the rocky deserts of the mythical Middle East and the electrifying energy of Rock to challenge the gods themselves.

Since she burst onto the scene while still a student a Juilliard, pianist and composer, Lera Auerbach, has always been a bit of a trend setter and rule breaker and her exciting and audacious new project appears to be no exception. It is a global collaborative commissioning project for her new 'Concerto for Piano and Orchestra.' The global aspect of the project will kick off with the composer herself performing the World Premiere, with the Stuttgart Philharmoniker under the baton of Maestro Dan Ettinger on November 24th, of next year.
