ELF to Play Al Hirschfeld Theatre this Holiday Season; Opens Nov. 10, 2010

This holiday season, Broadway will receive the greatest gift of all - a new musical. Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures in association with Unique Features announced today that the new Broadway musical ELF will open on Wednesday, November 10th at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street). Previews will begin on Tuesday, November 2nd. The production will play a limited engagement for the holiday season through Sunday, January 2nd.

The New York Times is reporting that the new musical adaption of the 2003 comedy film Elf will hit Broadway for the holiday season, opening at the Al Hirschfeld Theater in November and running through New Years.

THE WEDDING SINGER, THE MUSICAL COMEDY is based on the 1998 film "The Wedding Singer," with music by Matthew Sklar, lyrics by Chad Beguelin and book by Chad Beguelin and Tim Herlihy. THE WEDDING SINGER is directed by Lara Teeter, head of the Conservatory's Musical Theatre Program.

The creative guys behind 9 Works Theatrical ('Songs for a New World,' 'Rent') have been immersing themselves into a new production in spite of the fact that they have just closed their sold-out, limited engagement of 'Rent' at the RCBC Theatre...Up next is the screen to stage adaptation of 1998 Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore starrer 'The Wedding Singer.' The American Theatre Wing Presented the 2010 Jonathan Larson® Grants on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the American Airlines Theatre in New York City. This year, Peter Lerman, Daniel Maté, and songwriting team Michael Kooman (music) and Christopher Dimond (book & lyrics) were selected to receive the prestigious grants, totaling $10,000. The evening included special performances of the recipients' work by Brian d'Arcy James and Kerry Butler. Brad Bass, John Eric Parker, and Ephraim Sykes from Memphis performed a rarely heard Jonathan Larson song. BroadwayWorld was there for the ceremony.

The American Theatre Wing has announced the recipients of the 2010 Jonathan Larson® Grants. The grants, given annually to honor emerging composers, lyricists and book writers, help to continue Tony Award®-winning composer Jonathan Larson's dream of infusing musical theatre with a contemporary, joyful, urban vitality. After considering 165 applications, Peter Lerman, Daniel Mate, and songwriting team Michael Kooman (music) and Christopher Dimond (book & lyrics) were selected to receive the prestigious grants, totaling $10,000.
