This holiday season, Broadway will receive the greatest gift of all - a new musical. Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures in association with Unique Features announced today that the new Broadway musical ELF will open on Wednesday, November 10th at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street). Previews will begin on Tuesday, November 2nd. The production will play a limited engagement for the holiday season through Sunday, January 2nd.

The New York Times is reporting that the new musical adaption of the 2003 comedy film Elf will hit Broadway for the holiday season, opening at the Al Hirschfeld Theater in November and running through New Years.

Webster University's Conservatory of Theatre Arts closes its production of THE WEDDING SINGER, THE MUSICAL COMEDY, May 2 in the Browning Theatre of Webster's Loretto-Hilton Center, 130 Edgar Road. The creative guys behind 9 Works Theatrical ('Songs for a New World,' 'Rent') have been immersing themselves into a new production in spite of the fact that they have just closed their sold-out, limited engagement of 'Rent' at the RCBC Theatre...Up next is the screen to stage adaptation of 1998 Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore starrer 'The Wedding Singer.' For which, the theatre company is holding auditions on Friday and Saturday, March 19 to 20, 2010.

This year, Peter Lerman, Daniel Maté, and songwriting team Michael Kooman (music) and Christopher Dimond (book & lyrics) were selected to receive the prestigious grants, totaling $10,000. The evening included special performances of the recipients' work by Brian d'Arcy James and Kerry Butler. Brad Bass, John Eric Parker, and Ephraim Sykes from Memphis performed a rarely heard Jonathan Larson song. BroadwayWorld was there for the ceremony.

Michael Riedel reports in the New York Post that Will Ferrell's 2003 comedy Elf may be getting Broadway treatment, as a production underwent an industry staged reading last week. Riedel alleges that the buzz surrounding the reading has been positive.

Set to perform at this year's gala are the casts of the winning shows, as well as Sh-K-Boom's own Sherie Rene Scott, Alice Ripley, Gavin Creel, and Kelli O'Hara. The event will take place on Sunday, November 22nd, at 6:30pm at the Edison Ballroom.
