Williamstown Theatre Festival Artistic Director Jenny Gersten has announced the opening of the first two productions of the 2012 season: The Importance of Being Earnest on the Main Stage and the World Premiere of The Blue Deep on the Nikos Stage on June 28. It is the first time in the Festival's 58-year history that two shows have opened on the same night to kick-off the season.

Atlantic Theater Company opened the world premiere production of STOREFRONT CHURCH, written and directed by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award® winner John Patrick Shanley, on Monday night, June 11 at the Linda Gross Theater. The production will run through July 1, 2012.

Both casts arrived in Williamstown today for their first rehearsals on the bucolic Williams College campus in preparation for the runs of these exciting and unique productions at the Festival.

Directed by Henry Wishcamper, this deliciously chilling psychological portrait of fear and alienation will have its American premiere at the Guthrie in the Dowling Studio.

February 2nd marked the opening night for the Primary Stages (Casey Childs, Founder & Executive Producer; Andrew Leynse, Artistic Director; Elliot Fox, Managing Director) world premiere of the new play, Rx, written by Kate Fodor. Directed by Ethan McSweeny, the cast features Michael Bakkensen, Marylouise Burke, Marin Hinkle, Stephen Kunken, Paul Niebanck, and Elizabeth Rich. Rx will have set design by Lee Savage, costume design by Andrea Lauer, lighting design by Matthew Richards, original music and sound design by Lindsay Jones, and prop supervision by Faye Armon.
