New Berkshire Theatre Awards Program Announces Nominees

In the last twelve months, more than 300,000 people attended a live theatre production in or around Berkshire County. With 75 stage productions employing hundreds of professionals, making theatre is an important cog in the area's cultural economy. In fact, many consider the region a hot spot for Broadway bound shows, and a popular summer destination for theatre-goers from around the nation.

Shakespeare & Company presented The Two Gentlemen of Verona last night and Broadwayworld was at the opening.  Written by William Shakespeare, and directed by Co-Artistic Director Jonathan Croy, this early romantic comedy takes a gleeful look at the fickle nature of young love, playing in-the-round at the Tina Packer Playhouse throughSeptember 4, 2016.

Shakespeare & Company's THE MERCHANT OF VENICE Opens This Weekend

Shakespeare & Company will commemorate the 400th anniversary of the Bard during this 39th performance season with a newly configured theatre, and will debut its first production in-the-round with The Merchant of Venice, directed by Founder Tina Packer and featuring Jonathan Epstein as Shylock. This controversial and poignant play opens the Tina Packer Playhouse on July 1, and runs through August 21.

After a record number of voters in more than 70 regions worldwide, BroadwayWorld is very excited to announce the 2015 Milwaukee Awards winners. Highlights include Nova Y. Payton for her role in DREAMGIRLS at Milwaukee Rep, Alexander B. Tacoma who wins 'Best Costume Design' for DREAMGIRLS, and Phil Stepanski winning 'Best Actor in a Play' for THE NERD at Sunset Playhouse. GHOST LIGHT: THE HAUNTING Begins at TBG Theatre Next Month

La Luna Productions has announced that it will present GHOST LIGHT: THE HAUNTING, based on Yotsuya Ghost Tales, the Kabuki play inspired by the legend of a horribly betrayed woman named Oiwa. Written by award winning playwright, Carol Fisher Sorgenfrei and Produced and Directed by Emmy Award Winning Penny Bergman, the production previews begin on October 23rd with a special opening night performance on Halloween evening at midnight and will continue through November 8th at TBG Theatre, 312 West 36th St. in Manhattan.

THE REALISH HOUSEWIVES OF EDINA Set for New Century Theatre

Hennepin Theatre Trust announced today the full cast The Realish Housewives of Edina: A Parody. The brand new comedy, filled with heavy doses of brawls, booze and botox, is coming to the Trust's New Century Theatre September 24-November 15 with oodles of hometown reality in this totally original-and outlandish-parody performance. William Shakespeare's hilarious farce, The Comedy of Errors is playing at the Tina Packer Playhouse at Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, Ma. and Broadwayworld attended a performance. Director Taibi Magar delivers a whirlwind of magic, music and mayhem in the rollicking production of Shakespeare's shortest comedy. Performances run through August 23.

Art Miami New York Announces Special Exhibitions

New York City–Art Miami New York, a new modern and contemporary art fair produced by the ownership team of Art Miami, will take place at Pier 94 from May 14 through May 17 during Frieze Week and Spring Auctions. Extending the distinctive Art Miami brand to New York, the fair will feature compelling works of art from 100 international galleries representing nearly 1,200 artists, including modern and post-war masters as well as emergent talent and mid-career cutting–edge artists. The inaugural edition will also present an array of dynamic projects produced in collaboration with Art Miami New York exhibitors and cultural partners.
