Irish Theatre of Chicago to Stage THE WHITE ROAD, 4/30-6/13

Irish Theatre of Chicago, formerly Seanachai Theatre Company, concludes its 20th anniversary season with the world premiere drama THE WHITE ROAD by founding ensemble member Karen Tarjan*, directed by ensemble member Robert Kauzlaric*, playing April 30 - June 13, 2015 at its resident home, The Den Theatre, 1333 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago.

Akvavit Theatre Kicks Off 2014 Nordic Spirit Festival Today

Akvavit Theatre, now in its fourth year producing theatrical works that explore the Nordic experience, will be bringing its Nordic Spirit festival of staged readings to The Den Theatre, 1333 N. Milwaukee, for 2014. Featuring contemporary work from all five Nordic countries (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland), the festival will begin today, December 12 and continue through Sunday, December 14.

Akvavit Theatre presents their second production of the 2013 - 2014 season, Icelandic playwright Bjarni Jonsson's MISHAP!, translated by Hilmar Ramos and playing at The Side Project, 1439 W. Jarvis Ave. The show opens February 20 and will run through March 23. Performances are Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8PM and Sundays at 3PM. There will be a special industry night performance on Monday, March 10 at 8PM.

Akvavit Theatre presents their initial production of the 2013 - 2014 season, Swedish playwright Sofia Freden's They Died Where They Lied, co-directed by Akvavit company members Matthew Isler and Mark Litwicki, translated by Edward Buffalo Bromberg and playing at the Den Theatre, 1333 N. Regular performances occur Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Industry night is Monday, Nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m. and there will be special Thursday performances on October 31 (first preview) and November 21 at 7:30 p.m. Press/Opening night is Friday, Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. Regular ticket prices are $20 for single tickets and $15 any performance for industry/students. Akvavit Theatre Continues GJENGANGER Through 3/24

Akvavit Theatre presents two Chicago and one United States premieres of the work of Europe's most-produced living playwright, Norway's Jon Fosse, under the unified title of Gjenganger, February 28 - March 24, 2013 at the DCASE Storefront Theater, 66 East Randolph St. The "short full-length" plays, presented in rotation (two per night and all three Sundays) are: Winter, directed by Paul S. Holmquist, Autumn Dream, directed by Breahan Eve Pautsch,* and A Summer's Day, directed by Wm. Bullion.* Original musical arrangements for the three plays are by Dag Juhlin of Poi Dog Pondering. The performance schedule for Gjenganger is Thursdays (A Summer's Day/Winter), Fridays (Winter/Autumn Dream) and Saturdays (Autumn Dream/A Summer's Day) at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays (all three plays) at 3 p.m. ("Gjenganger" is the Norwegian word for "those who walk again.")
