Zimmerli Art Museum Appoints New Curator; Promotes Two More

New Brunswick, NJ – The Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers welcomed a new appointment and announced two promotions to key museum positions in February. Amanda Potter, most recently Educator for Public and University Programs at the Wexner Center for the Arts at The Ohio State University in Columbus, joined the Zimmerli staff as Curator of Education and Interpretation on February 1. Christine Giviskos, Ph.D., and Julia Tulovsky, Ph.D., both associate curators at the Zimmerli since 2007, have been promoted to curator and head of their respective departments. Giviskos now serves as Curator of Prints, Drawings, and European Art, and Tulovsky as Curator of Russian and Soviet Nonconformist Art.

Spotlighting larger-than-life novelist, poet, playwright, and Pittsburgh native Gertrude Stein and her partner Alice B. Toklas, 27 will delight you with Ricky Ian Gordon's 'tuneful score' and Royce Vavrek's 'quick-witted libretto.' 27 is a humorous and touching snapshot of the women's shared lives at 27 Rue de Fleurus in Paris in the early 1900s, featuring their famous salon and its visitors, including Picasso, Matisse, Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and others. On stage February 20, 23, 26 & 28 at Pittsburgh Opera Headquarters, most tickets for 27 are $40.

National Portrait Gallery to Hold DC Youth Slam Poetry Semifinals, 2/19

Celebrate the voices of DC youth as 20 teen performers present original poems. Five audience members will judge while the poets compete for a spot in the finals. Finalists have the chance to join the 2016 DC Youth Slam Team. The event is hosted by the National Portrait Gallery and the Teen Museum Council. SAN FRANCISCO AND NEW YORK — February 18, 2016 —Ubisoft and Scholastic today announced a collaboration on a new young adult book series, Last Descendants, based on the hit video game franchise Assassin's Creed. Written for readers ages 12 and up by award-winning author Matthew J.
