Kansas City Repertory Theatre's artistic director Eric Rosen has announced the cast of the Rep's production of Pippin. Rosen will direct the musical, which runs September 14-October 7, and kicks off the theatre's 2012-13 season.
Kansas City Repertory Theatre's artistic director Eric Rosen has selected the creative team for his staging of the Rep's 2012-13 season opener Pippin, a musical by Stephen Schwartz (music and lyrics) and Roger O. Hirson (book). Pippin will run September 14 - October 7, 2012 at Spencer Theatre in Kansas City, MO.
The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) announces 15 awards granted from their National Fund for New Musicals, a major funding program to support NAMT member not-for-profit theatres in their collaborations with writers to create, develop and produce new musicals. Now in its fourth year, the Fund will provide grants totaling $48,000 to 14 organizations across the country.

Center Theatre Group has announced the participants chosen for the 2011-2012 Writers' Workshop. Administered by CTG's Literary Department, the Writers' Workshop consists of seven Los Angeles playwrights who gather over nine months to share their work and assist one another in the creative process of developing their individual plays.

Janelle Monáe attended the Saturday, October 30 matinee performance of Matt Sax and Eric Rosen's world premiere production of 'Venice,' now playing at the Kirk Douglas Theatre. Monáe, a singer/songwriter was performing herself that night at The Palladium in Los Angeles.

In celebration of his first solo CD release, former Jersey Boys star Erich Bergen will debut his new club act at The Magic Castle in Los Angeles on Wednesday, September 15 at 8pm, and following that performance, he will be appearing at Center Theatre Group's Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City as part of the cast of Venice from October 7 through November 14.
