In a new interview with AP's Mark Kennedy, Matthew Morrison chats about making his return to Broadway in the upcoming production of FINDING NEVERLAND, a musical directed by Tony Award winner Diane Paulus that follows the back story of the beloved novel, Peter Pan.
Before Victoria Clark returns to Broadway next season as 'Mamita Alvarez' in Gigi, she heads back to school as the artist in residence at Pace University. Clark directs The Light in the Piazza, the show for which she picked up a Tony Award in 2005, running through November 8 at the Loretto Theatre at The Sheen Center.
The Light in the Piazza, by Adam Guettel and Craig Lucas, is based on the novella of the same name by Elizabeth Spencer. Taking place in Italy in the late summer of 1953, it is the story of an American woman Margaret Johnson, who travels to Florence with her daughter Clara, who falls in love with a young Florentine man. As details emerge about Clara's past, their trip turns out to be very much a romantic and psychological journey as Margaret must decide what is best for her daughter, her family, and for herself. The winner of six Tony Awards in 2005, The Light in the Piazza has become one of the great classics of the American Musical Theater, with its lush score and cliff-hanger story.
Clark took the time out of her busy schedule to update BroadwayWorld on her adventures in directing, revisiting PIAZZA, preparing for GIGI and more. Check out the full interview below!

'I don't care / I love it!' And so goes the chorus of Icona Pop's current chart-climbing hit covered on last night's GLEE. And, so, too, goes Glee 4.0 as it is - or, now, as it was. Indeed, this was a game-changing year for the pop culture mainstay and the season finale was a fulfilling sampling of many of the reasons why. Plus: Patty Duke!
According to a new interview, noted Broadway/Hollywood crossover star and Glee headliner Matthew Morrison will be presenting his new solo concert special on PBS stations across the country on June 1.
A FUNNY GIRL theme and returning guest star Idina Menzel? What more could any self-respecting Broadway baby - or, better yet, gleek - possibly ask for in an episode of GLEE 4.0? Well, last night, we got some out of control college antics - including hallway oil slides and the “Harlem Shake” in a fountain - sage wisdom via Coach Beiste (Dot Marie Jones) and Mr. Schue (Matt Morrison) and even an original tune by AVENUE Q's Tony Award-winning Jeff Marx, to name but a few fabulous features of the show. Yes, last night's GLEE was a continued effortlessly fun frolic and easy, breezy ride in the ever-entertaining musical series, acting as a sweet salve to last week's heart-stopping school shooting and ensuing Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) drama.
MAMMA MIA! Wham! Spice Up Your Life! What is it with guilty pleasures and exclamation points?! Well, last night's Glee definitely earned an emphatic exclamation point for the 'Guilty Pleasures' show - so bad it was good, just like it should be... against all odds, as it were. Zig-a-zig-ah!

A member of the St. Louis Blues and Jazz Hall of Fame returned to his roots this past Sunday bringing a trio of talented musicians in tow. The Freddie Washington Quartet, led by the saxophonist extraordinaire, put on a blistering 90 minute set at the Grandel this past Sunday (1/29/2012) that showcased Washington and his fellow musicians' considerable talents. Though the turn out was less than stellar, you couldn't tell by the music that flowed from this group. This was one evening that a lot of people will be kicking themselves for missing.

Last night saw the highly-awaited return of FOX's hit musical comedy/drama series GLEE, featuring performances by this week's InDepth InterView participant tearing up 'All By Myself' - international recording superstar Charice - in addition to the return of Broadway baby Cheyenne Jackson as part of Sue Sylvester's Legion of Doom and Oscar-winner Gwyneth Paltrow returning as Holly Holiday. While the focus was more on the drama and plot developments for once - expectedly enacted to reacquaint us all with what was up lo, two months ago when the last new episode pf Season Two aired - as opposed to the musical content, which dominates the proceedings more often than not. That being said, Charice and Gwyneth delivered in a big Broadway way - and there were more rabbits than a magician's hat in Harry Shum‘s slinky and stylish choreographic tour de force. And, it is clear that the screen chemistry when combining Gwyneth Paltrow, Matt Morrison and Cheyenne Jackson is something to be seen.
Yesterday, international singing sensation and fresh-faced new GLEE cast member Charice - proclaimed by Oprah herself to be 'the most talented girl in the world' - was kind enough to take some time out while rehearsing her new song for an upcoming Season Two episode of GLEE as Sunshine Corazon to talk to me about all things GLEE - Showrunner/Creator Ryan Murphy, her audition, singing with Lea Michele, what duets she wants to do, 'All By Myself', 'Telephone', 'Listen', etc. - as well as working with writer/producer Bruno Mars on her new single 'Before It Explodes', continuing a theme begun with Mars's own 'Grenade' - as well as singing Mars songs for a number of tracks on her forthcoming album. Additionally, we discuss her musical influences, her favorite songs to sing in concert, what inspires her, her favorite films of the year and her deep desire to star in a horror film someday soon - plus, comments on everyone from Barbra Streisand, Lea Michele and Idina Menzel to Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Jay-Z and Justin Bieber. Also: news on her feature film debut, HERE COMES THE BOOM, co-starring Kevin James, Salma Hayek and Henry Winkler - and much, much more!
