JEFF Awards Non-Equity Nominations - Full List and Statistics - Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre Leads with 14 Nominations

The Jeff Awards today announced 124 nominations in 25 categories for Non-Equity Jeff Awards for productions that opened between April 1, 2011, and March 31, 2012. The Non-Equity Awards honor excellence in Chicago theatres not under a union contract. Jeff Awards judges covered opening nights of 154 productions offered by 71 Non-Equity producing organizations. The judges recommended 64 of those shows, making them eligible for Non-Equity Jeff Award nominations. Thirty-two theatre companies received nominations.

Strawdog's THE DUCHESS OF MALFI Runs 4/19-5/26

Strawdog Theatre Company concludes its 24th season with a new adaptation of John Webster's The Duchess of Malfi, directed by Strawdog Artistic Director Brandon Bruce, adapted by Bruce and Christine Scarfuto, April 19 - May 26 at the Strawdog Theatre, 3829 North Broadway Street. The performance schedule is Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 4 p.m. Preview performance tickets are $15 with performances Thursday, April 19 and Friday, April 20 at 8 p.m. There is a gala benefit performance, Saturday, April 21 at 7 p.m., $50 tickets include access to post-performance reception.

Steppenwolf Theatre Hosts Conversation with Frank Galati and E.L. Doctorow Tonight

Steppenwolf Theatre Company hosts an evening of conversation about the world of storytelling tonight, April 16 in Steppenwolf's Downstairs Theatre. Featured for the event are two expert storytellers, Tony Award-winning ensemble member Frank Galati and Pulitzer Prize-finalist E.L. Doctorow, moderated by Steppenwolf Artistic Director Martha Lavey.

Tony Award-winning ensemble member Frank Galati returns to the helm at Steppenwolf Theatre Company with his stage adaptation of The March, Pulitzer Prize-finalist E.L. Doctorow's novel about General William Tecumseh Sherman's Civil War march through Georgia. This marks Galati's Second Stage production of a Doctorow novel, following the highly-acclaimed musical Ragtime (1998). The much-anticipated production features a cast of 26 playing a mix of fictional and historical characters. The March begins previews April 5 (Opening Night is April 15; Press Performances are April 14 at 3pm and April 17 at 7:30pm) and runs through June 10, 2012 in Steppenwolf's Downstairs Theatre (1650 N Halsted St). Neil LaBute Joins Profiles Theatre for 2012-13 Season - Full Season Details

Artistic Directors Joe Jahraus and Darrell W. Cox have announced Profiles Theatre's 2012 - 2013 Season. They also announced that acclaimed playwright Neil LaBute and Steppenwolf ensemble member Rick Snyder joined Profiles as Resident Artists. Five productions are planned for the upcoming 24th season, including the Midwest premieres of the award-winning Blood from a Stone in a newly revised version by playwright Tommy Nohilly, After by Chad Beckim, The Dream of the Burning Boy by David West Read and the Midwest premiere of Neil LaBute's controversial 2010 play The Break of Noon revised exclusively for Profiles Theatre. Additionally, one of Chicago theatre's longest running hits, Hellcab by Will Kern, returns for its 20th Anniversary production. These five productions alternate between Profiles' two venues, The Main Stage at 4139 N. Broadway and The Alley Stage at 4147 N. Broadway.
