Last night Atlantic Theater Company presented their annual Gala at The Pierre (2 East 61st Street). Directed by Neil Pepe with musical direction by Matt Gallagher, Writers' Choice saluted Atlantic's iconic playwrights with an evening of unexpected songs. For this year's Gala, Atlantic asked alumni playwrights to choose a favorite song and a favorite musician to perform it. Writers' Choice featured special tributes to Annie Baker, Martha Clarke, Stephen Adly Guirgis, David Mamet, Conor McPherson, and Doug Wright from presenters and performers Jonathan Cake, Bridget Everett, John Gallagher Jr., Rick Holmes, Brian D'Arcy James, Gary Jules, John Kelly, Zosia Mamet, Julianne Nicholson, Laura Osnes, Michael Park, Mary Beth Peil and Isiah Whitlock, Jr. among others. With host Sean Hartley and Music Director Matt Gallagher. So far Tony-nominated composer-lyricist Amanda Green has been represented on Broadway three times with High Fidelity and two of last season's shows, the exuberant Bring it On: The Musical and the pioneering Hands on a Hardbody.
Amanda Green returned to the stage at The Broadway at Birdland concert series for a one-night-only special event on September 29. Green is an award winning performer and Tony-nominated Broadway composer-lyricist. For this event, she was joined by members of the Broadway cast of Hands On A Hardbody. Together they performed an evening of her hilarious and moving songs, and celebrated the release of the Original Broadway Cast Recording. The singers were backed by members of the original Broadway 'Pit Crew' for Hardbody, including Musical Director Matt Gallagher on piano, Skip Krevens on Pedal Steel, Shannon Ford on drums and Skip Ward on bass.

Green will host the concert Amanda Green and Friends at Birdland Jazz Club (315 West 44th Street) tonight, September 29 at 6:00 PM to celebrate the album's release. Her special guests will include Keith Carradine, Allison Case, Jenn Colella, Van Hughes, Janet Krupin, Kathleen Monteleone, Jim Newman, Jacob Ming-Trent, Jon Rua and William Youmans.
