This past weekend, the South Bend Civic Theatre closed their newest show, A Streetcar Named Desire. The play, written by Tennessee Williams and which won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1948, is widely considered one of Williams' best plays and one of the finest works of drama from the 20th century.

If you're looking for a hilarious comedy that makes you feel borderline guilty for laughing, look no further than The Cripple of Inishmaan, which opened this weekend at the South Bend Civic Theatre.

From August 12th through the 21st, the South Bend Civic Theatre will feature the tradition of Irish storytelling in the Wilson Theatre with Martin McDonagh's The Cripple of Inishmaan. Director Jim Geisel takes the audience to an island off the western coast of Ireland in 1934. Robert Flaherty, a Hollywood director, arrives on the island of Inishmore to film 'Man of Aran.' As the word gets around, the young Cripple Billy aspires to be in the film as a way to escape his daily struggles.

THE FANTASTICKS, a well-loved, classic musical, professionally produced by The Winter Park Playhouse, will extend the run of its production due to popular demand. Additional performances are Thursday, June 16? at 2 p.m., Friday, June 17 at 7:30p.m. and two performances Saturday, June 18 at 2 and 7:30 p.m. ?

In this year of the presidential election and the bicentennial celebration of the Hoosier state, the South Bend Civic Theatre is presenting 1776 in the Wilson Theatre. This past weekend at the South Bend Civic Theatre, Aladdin Jr. opened with two different young casts: the Abu cast and the Iago cast. I had the privilege of seeing the Iago cast, which is the older of the set. While I won't go into great detail about the plot because there is still a final weekend of performances left, Aladdin Jr. is a musical adaptation of the animated Disney film Aladdin.
