Mesa Arts Center today announced its 2014-2015 Performing Live Season, which begins with Lyle Lovett & His Large Band on July 24, and includes performances with Tony Bennett, MythBusters, Bill Cosby, Joshua Bell, Evil Dead the Musical, Molly Ringwald, and many more. The shows unveiled today are in addition to the six series packages announced on May 1, including Broadway on Center, Classical, Dance, Jazz, National Geographic Live, and Spoken World.
One Drop of Love is a multimedia solo performance and documentary film-in-progress by Fanshen Cox DiGiovanni that investigates the question of how our belief in 'race' affects our most intimate relationships. DiGiovanni is a writer, educator, and actor who has appeared in film (Argo), television (The Mentalist, Angel, Days of Our Lives), and theater (The Vagina Monologues, Guys and Dolls). The show explores family, race, love, and pain - and a path towards reconciliation. One Drop of Love is produced by Ben Affleck, Chay Carter, Matt Damon, and the show's writer/performer, Fanshen Cox DiGiovanni. The performance, which is sponsored by Fairview Capital, will be followed by a talk-back with the performer.
The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced today that a special free one-night event, PUBLIC FORUM: SHAKESPEARE IN AMERICA, will take place on Monday, June 30 at 8:00 p.m. at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park, with a line-up that includes Sarah Amengual, Michael Cerveris, Colman Domingo, James Earl Jones, Cynthia Nixon, Annie-B Parson, Steven Pasquale, and Michael Stuhlbarg, celebrating the world's greatest writer, American-style. Highlights of the evening will include James Earl Jones reading a scene from Othello, marking his return to the Delacorte after a 40-year absence and celebrating the 50th anniversary of his playing Othello on the Delacorte stage; Michael Cerveris reading a letter by John Wilkes Booth; and Steven Pasquale singing Tony in the "Tonight" duet from West Side Story.
Cheyenne Jackson will lead Lambda Legal's West Coast Liberty Awards Red Carpet Fundraising Gala as the Liberty Awards Host, which celebrates those working towards Lambda Legal's vision of equality. Bravo TV's Million Dollar Listing star Madison Hildebrand will also join in the evening's celebrations as the Red Carpet Host. This year's honorees include Scandal's Dan Bucatinsky, The Fosters Executive Producers/Showrunners Bradley Bredeweg, Joanna Johnson and Peter Paige, Congressman Henry A.
