The 17th annual ASCAP Foundation Awards Event took place at Jazz at Lincoln Center last week. Among the musical theater-related awards presented was the Mary Rodgers-Lorenz Hart Award to lyricist Marcy Heisler and the Richard Rodgers New Horizons Award to the composer-lyricist team of Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner. Host Scott Siegel had just recapped the story of the show's numerous delays, fake investors, missing funds and the fact that an estimated 150 theatre professions had either turned down work or stopped seeking immediate employment because of their expectation to be working on Broadway by Christmas.

They will receive The Town Hall's 'Friend of the Arts' Award tonight, October 21st, 2012.
