Artists Rep is thrilled to kick off its 2014/15 season with the Portland premiere of Intimate Apparel by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lynn Nottage. Artists Rep Artistic Associate and Resident Artist Michael Mendelson will direct this award-winning, Off-Broadway and regional theatre sensation. John Millington Synge's 1907 play is about Christy, a young man who shows up in an Irish village and announces that he has killed his father with a blow to the head. For some reason, the men of the town are impressed by this feat and immediately claim friendship with the boy, while all the women in the town eye him as potential husband material, particularly the young barmaid Pegeen Mike.

The network's robust schedule continues to fulfill its promise to meet the six passion points - Food, Fashion, Beauty, Design, Pop Culture and Digital - with the premieres of the new shows 'Silicon Valley Start-Ups' and 'LOLwork' and also returning is 'The Real Housewives of Atlanta,' 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,' 'Top Chef: Seattle' and 'Million Dollar Decorators.'

Actress Lea Michele today joined Valspar Paint® and Habitat for Humanity in unveiling Valspar Hands for Habitat. Now in its second year, the program auctions the colorful handprints of celebrities and notable personalities, created using Valspar Paint. Money raised from the auction benefits Habitat for Humanity's disaster response programs, which provide immediate and long-term response and solutions to natural disasters such as the recent tornados in the Midwest and Southeast which damaged and destroyed the homes of thousands.

Today, the network announced a 27 percent increase in original programming with 11 new and eight returning unscripted series, and two new scripted projects in development. The network plans to premiere scripted series in 2013.

The 17th Annual Merritt Award for Excellence in Design and Collaboration program, posthumously honoring and celebrating the work of lighting and set designer Michael Philippi (Desire Under the Elms, Death of a Salesman), 'an esteemed longtime collaborator and friend', will take place on Monday, May 3, at the Goodman Theatre.

The 16th Annual Merritt Award for Excellence in Design and Collaboration program, honoring world class scenic designer Todd Rosenthal (August: Osage County), will take place on Monday, April 27, at the Steppenwolf Merle Reskin Garage Theatre. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. with a viewing of the third annual ?Theater Design Expo' showcasing the works of over 20 Chicago-area emerging theatrical designers and a student portfolio review. Martha Lavey, Artistic Director of Steppenwolf Theatre Company, will moderate an inclusive discussion, 'Moving Chicago Productions to New York and Beyond' with the awardees, Director Anna Shapiro and Joshua Schmidt, composer and librettist, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
