The series of plays include contemporary playwrights Christopher Durang, David Ives, Mary Gallagher, Seth Kramer and David Auburn. From of Oves' BABEL'S IN ARMS to Gallagher's CHOCOLATE CAKE, the Players give the audience a little of everything.

Golden Globe nominated actor Michael Stuhlbarg (Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy for A Serious Man) will feature in Israel Horovitz's Unexpected Tenderness, the finale of the Barefoot Theatre Company's 70/70 Project.

Barefoot Theatre Company will present the closing event of the 70/70 Project, a yearlong, worldwide festival showcasing 70 plays by the soon-to-be 71-year-old playwright. The celebration features a reading of Unexpected Tenderness, one of Horovitz's most personal plays, live music, a surprise guest host and more. This special evening will take place at the Bleecker Street Theatre (45 Bleecker between Lafayette and Mott streets) on Wednesday, March 31st, 2010. Cocktail hour is at 7pm; curtain rises at 8. Tickets are $25 per person.

Applause Theatre & Cinema Books will release the most recent version of 'The Best American Short Plays,' in 2010, the publishing house has announced, and will include the 2003-2004, 2006-2007, and 2008 - 2009 version in the anthology. Play featured include works by Neil LaBute, David Ives, and Murray Schisgal.

Barefoot will lead over 50 theatre companies from around the globe including France, Italy, Greece, Czech Republic, Scotland, Australia, England, Scandinavia, the Middle East, Japan, Korea & the United States, performing readings, staged readings & fully staged productions of 70 of Horovitz's plays. THE 70/70 HOROVITZ PROJECT will begin with a gala & a reading of Sins of the Mother (directed by Jo Bonney) at the Theatres at 45 Bleecker Street on Israel's birthday, March 31, 2009 & will continue throughout the following year, ending on March 31, 2010. The evening will be hosted by Barefoot Theatre Company Advisory Board Member, Pierre Dulaine. The entire Barefoot Theatre Company will be present at the event to greet all guests, along with the Horovitz family.
