Downtown Urban Theater Festival (DUTF), now heading into its 12th season, welcomes springtime in NYC with three weeks of new theatre at HERE's Mainstage, April 2 to 19, 2014. Seventeen of America's best emerging writers and theatrical visionaries will share their stories that interpret our history and our times through live performances fusing theatre, dance, music, media and visual arts. A special addition to this year's festival will be the U.S. premiere of Two of Us, DUTF's international selection from Romania.

Marin Theatre Company is committed to exploring and developing new work for the American theater, supporting playwrights with their creative process from conception to production and engaging audiences with the best contemporary new plays. Through multiple programs, MTC seeks out writers and champions projects for continued life on the MTC stage and beyond. With our commissioning program, new play prizes, new play staged readings series, playwright residencies and a commitment to world premiere productions, MTC promotes the future of the American theater.

For its much-anticipated 12th annual season, the Downtown Urban Theater Festival (DUTF) will again take residency at HERE's Mainstage in New York City, April 2nd through 19th, 2014, with three weeks of new groundbreaking theatre.

Playwrights Theatre's roundtable reading series FORUM will present "Soundings" at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Dreyfuss Theatre, 285 Madison Avenue, Madison. Readings will begin promptly at 7:00pm each evening, December 10-21, 2013. The NATIONAL NEW PLAY NETWORK (NNPN), the country's alliance of non- profit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, proudly announces that the 2013 Smith Prize Commission, which carries an Award of $5,000, has been awarded to Martyna Majok for her untitled play. Majok's proposed play is inspired by Slavoj Žižek's Violence, which examines capitalism and our treatment of people. Awarded annually to a proposal for a play that focuses on American politics, The Smith Prize is funded by a gift from screenwriter, novelist and playwright Timothy Jay Smith and a number of other socially-conscious donors.

New York Stage and Film (Johanna Pfaelzer, Artistic Director; Thomas Pearson, Executive Director; Mark Linn-Baker, Max Mayer, Leslie Urdang, Producing Directors) and Vassar College (Ed Cheetham, Producing Director) have announced the line-up of their 2013 Powerhouse Theater Season, which includes new works from actor, writer and prolific, Grammy Award-winning musician Steve Martin and Tony Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of Broadway'sIn the Heights, among many others. The 2013 Powerhouse Theater Season runs from June 21st - July 28th at Vassar College (Poughkeepsie, New York), and a full calendar and description of events are below. The Satori Group presents the world premiere of Martyna Majok's reWilding as the inaugural production in Satori's new home: the LAB@INScape. The production opens Friday, March 1 and runs through Sunday, March 17. reWilding has been in collaborative development for 18 months, with design and music as central elements of the process from the start. As a result, the production design is a full installation into the LAB, and the audience experience is an immersive one. With limited seating (30-40 seats per performance), this production invites our audience to join us in the world of reWilding.

The NATIONAL NEW PLAY NETWORK (NNPN), the country's alliance of non-profit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, will award grants of more than $60,000 to playwrights for Commissions and Residencies in 2012-13. The Awards were announced at the organization's Annual Conference on June 6 in Kansas City, MO, hosted by member Unicorn Theatre Company.
