Beach Boys, Turtles et al. Play Annual Seaside Summer Concert Series, 7/22

On Thursday, July 22, the 32nd annual Seaside Summer Concert Series at Asser Levy/Seaside Park, hosted by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, will feature the 'Happy Together Tour,' including the Beach Boys, the Turtles (featuring Flo & Eddie), Mickey Dolenz (the Monkees) and Mark Lindsay (Paul Revere and the Raiders). The Seaside Summer Concert Series at Coney Island and Martin Luther King, Jr. Concert Series in Crown Heights/Central Brooklyn have entertained hundreds of thousands of residents over the past three decades and remain the largest free concert series in the New York metropolitan area.

MLK, Jr. Concert Series Presents Toni Braxton, 7/19

On Monday, July 19, the 28th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Concert Series at Wingate Field in Crown Heights/Central Brooklyn, hosted by Borough President Marty Markowitz, will feature Grammy Award-winner Toni Braxton. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Concert Series and the Seaside Summer Concert Series at Coney Island have entertained hundreds of thousands of residents over the past three decades and remain the largest free concert series in the New York metropolitan area.

2010-11 Season for Friend Center at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco

Part of the Arts and Ideas series of performances, lectures and conversations, The Friend Center for the Arts at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco (JCCSF) today announced details of its comprehensive Performing Arts programming for 2010/11. The eclectic array of performances in the intimacy of Kanbar Hall will include a tribute to Stephen Sondheim on the occasion of his 80th birthday by Broadway star Liz Callaway; performances of The Laramie Project by Moisés Kaufman's Tectonic Theater Project; Viva Cuba! With Carlos Reyes; and the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company. Returning favorites include the Harlem Gospel Choir, the Great Broadway Sing-Along: the comedy of The Capitol Steps; and The Jewish Theatre with a production of Neil Simon's Lost in Yonkers.

RIALTO CHATTER: Halle Berry Confirmed for MOUNTAINTOP

American playwright Katori Hall's The Mountaintop was named Best Play at the 2010 Olivier Awards in London. Marking the first time a female African American playwright has received the honor in the Olivier Awards' 34-year history, Ms. Hall's play was nominated alongside such new works as Jerusalem, Enron and Red.

Cromwell, Madigan Highlight 'Carry It On!' Benefit, 7/16

Kick back under the stars at Theatricum and enjoy powerful tributes to people who have shaped the history of the world, our nation and our music. On Friday, July 16 at 8 pm, James Cromwell, Amy Madigan, Michael O'Neill, Jordan Belfi and Christina Pickles headline a benefit performance of CARRY IT ON! Great American moments in word and song. On Friday, July 23 at 8 pm the Geer family, including Ellen Geer, Peter Alsop, Thad Geer, Willow Geer, Melora Marshall, and Ian Flanders, presents Theatricum's annual The Woody Guthrie Story. On Saturday, September 4 at 3 pm, singer/songwriter Inara George and Friends present A Tribute to Dolly Parton. Finally, in August and September the Theatricum Summer Repertory Company presents eight additional performances of CARRY IT ON! as part of the summer repertory season. Proceeds raised from the benefit performances will help support Theatricum's repertory company and arts education programs.

The 5th Annual Charlotte Shakespeare Festival, brought by Collaborative Arts, presents THE COMEDY OF ERRORS from June 4th to the 20th, at The Green Uptown. Opening was to be on the Thursday, the 3rd, but has been pushed back due to inclement weather. Patrons are welcomed to attend the final dress rehearsal Thursday at 8 pm.
