'BROWN BEAR', ROCK THE PRESIDENTS and More Set for The Orpheum's 2016-17 Family Series

The Orpheum Theatre Group is proud to announce the lineup for the 2016-2017 Family Series. This season features exciting adaptations of beloved literary classics and performances that will both challenge and enlighten the entire family. The series runs October through February, with performances in both the historic Orpheum Theatre and the Halloran Centre for Performing Arts & Education.

Chester Theatre Company presents THE MOUNTAINTOP

The Mountaintop comes to the foothills of the Berkshires when Katori Hall's award-winning play opens at Chester Theatre Company on Thursday, August 18th at 8:00 p.m. A bold re-imagining of the last night in the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., The Mountaintop runs through August 28 at the historic Chester Town Hall at 15 Middlefield Road in Chester, MA.

The National Civil Rights Museum Announces 25th Freedom Award

Today, the National Civil Rights Museum announced recipients of The Freedom Award, the museum's signature event that honors outstanding individuals for their significant contributions to civil and human rights. This year's honorees are Benjamin Crump, civil rights attorney; Tawakkol Karman, Yemeni human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate; The Honorable Damon Jerome Keith, longest serving judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit Court; Soledad O'Brien, journalist and executive producer; and Bryan Stevenson, attorney and social justice activist.

BWW Review: Delighting in Deception at Capital Fringe's PERFECT LIARS CLUB

For those who think they can easily spot a liar (especially in this city), PERFECT LIARS CLUB returns to Capital Fringe Festival and offers an opportunity to pick one out of a lineup. The show includes four storytellers who each present a personal tale that seems stranger than fiction. Only three are telling the truth, and it's the audience's job to scrutinize the facts and expose the liar.

Definition & The New Colony's BYHALIA, MISSISSIPPI to Open at Steppenwolf's 1700 Theatre

The New Colony and Definition Theatre Company's runaway hit BYHALIA, MISSISSIPPI, winner of three 2016 Jeff Awards including Best New Work, returns this summer featuring the full original cast from July 22 - August 21, 2016 as part of Steppenwolf's Visiting Company Initiative at their new 1700 Theatre, 1700 N. Halsted St. in Chicago. The searing new American drama by The New Colony Co-Artistic Director Evan Linder, directed by Definition Theatre's Founding Artistic Director Tyrone Phillips, enjoyed two sold-out extensions during its world premiere last winter at The Den Theatre.
