STG Presents Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Featuring Two Seattle Premieres

Led by Artistic Director Robert Battle, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater returns to Seattle's Paramount Theatre with three performances April 27-29, 2018. The Company will perform two Seattle premieres and a total of five works by a wide range of choreographers. Alvin Ailey's timeless and inspiring American masterpiece Revelations will provide the finale for all three programs, which will take place at 8pm on April 27-28 and at 2pm on April 29.

Kravis Center To Present THE MOUNTAINTOP

L.A. Theatre Works has announced the casting of stage, film and television stars Karen Malina White and Gilbert Glenn Brown for their upcoming tour of the Olivier Award-winning hit play, The Mountaintop. As the nation honors the 50th anniversary of his passing, the fictional tale of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s last night alive comes to the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts as a part of the Center's P.E.A.K. Series April 20 - 21, 2018.

Afro-Semitic Experience Comes to the Autorino Center for the Arts and Humanities

On Saturday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m., the Afro-Semitic Experience will headline a musical evening that will also feature musicians from the Healing World Project at the Autorino Center for the Arts and Humanities on the University of Saint Joseph's West Hartford campus. The Afro-Semitic Experience is an American roots jazz band with a difference; they merge Jewish and Afro-diasporic melodies and grooves, combining the core concepts of ase and shalom - power, action, unity, and peace.

This year marks a half-century since Dr. Martin Luther King's earthly journey ended and the Civil Rights Act of 1968 was passed. To memorialize this occasion, The New School's Nth Degree Series and Project1VOICE present Words of Change-Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the New School on April 4, 2018, at 6:01 p.m. in the Auditorium Room 106, 66 West 12th Street.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Announces 20th Annual Celebration At NJPAC

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater returns to New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) for their 20th annual performance run on Mother's Day Weekend from May 11-13. The three-show celebration is the culmination of the Company's 21-city North American tour. Artistic Director Robert Battle leads Ailey's 32 extraordinary dancers as they continue the Company's legacy of using the African-American cultural experience and the American modern dance tradition to uplift, unite, and enlighten. Three diverse and exciting programs spotlighting premieres and new productions by influential choreographic voices will inspire audiences at Prudential Hall, all closing with a stirring finale of Alvin Ailey's always must-see American masterpiece, Revelations.

'We Sing For Martin Luther King' Based on a 1968 Song by Holly Peppe, Featuring Acclaimed Musicians Liz Queler, Seth Farber, and Joey Farber, Available Now

A new song is out called "We Sing for Martin Luther King," featuring acclaimed musicians Liz Queler on lead vocals, Seth Farber on piano, organ, vocals, and Joey Farber on guitar, bass, and drums, based on lyrics and music written by poet and writer Holly Peppe in 1968. As the date of April 4 th, 2018 marks the 50 th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s passing, Dr. King's inspiring work and dream of peace, unity, social equality and justice continue to remain as important as ever in the struggles facing our nation today.

New Operas About Memphis Come to Midtown Opera Festival

Opera Memphis will present a series of new operas about Memphis, The Opera 901 Showcase, during the 2018 Midtown Opera Festival at Playhouse on the Square April 6-14. This year's Festival will also include a rarely performed opera by Alessandro Scarlatti and a full range of Fringe events designed to satisfy any lover of the performing arts. The PINK BOW PROJECT to be Presented By Karen Hawkins

For the past year, artist Karen Hawkins has excavated a dark aspect of humanity, reaching in to reclaim a measure of power over the memories left behind. The Pink Bow Project, which will be on view during National Child Abuse Prevention Month, opens with a Private Preview on April 12th at Gallery Shoal Creek in Austin, Texas.

Matrix Production Of THE MOUNTAINTOP Heads For Memphis For 50th Anniversary Of MLK Assassination

Internationally acclaimed playwright Katori Hall, currently artistic director of the Hattiloo Theatre in Memhis, TN, will remount L.A.'s Matrix Theatre production of her play, The Mountaintop, at Memphis's Orpheum Theatre in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the death of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Obie award-winner Roger Guenveur Smith, who directed the Matrix production, will again be at the helm, with Larry Bates and Danielle Mone Truitt reprising their Matrix roles. Award-winning Matrix set designer John Iacovelli will design the set.

MOTOWN THE MUSICAL Announces 2018-19 UK Tour

Motown the Musical will embark on a major UK and Ireland tour in 2018-2019 arriving at The Bristol Hippodrome for a 4-week a four week  run from Thursday 10 January - Saturday 2 February 2019. Further dates and casting to be announced soon.

The Theater Project Commemorates Martin Luther King Jr with THE BEST OF ENEMIES

As America celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s life half a century after his assassination on April 4, 1968, The Theater Project commemorates this milestone with THE BEST OF ENEMIES, a play that begins on the night of Dr. King's death. Two people in the same city but worlds apart - a black civil rights activist and a Ku Klux Klan leader - react to the news of the assassination in shocking but predictably different ways.

Park City Institute Presents LA Theatre Works' Powerful Play, THE MOUNTAINTOP

Marking history with art, Park City Institute presents L.A. Theatre Works' Olivier Award-winning play, The Mountaintop, by Katori Hall. The powerful two-person play imagines the story of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's last night on earth. "This year marks the 50th Anniversary of Dr. King's assassination," said PCI Executive Director, Teri Orr. "We wanted to honor his memory, his work, and his life, by presenting The Mountaintop. The play is filled with humor, political jabs, and offers a glimpse at the human side of this larger-than-life figure. And, it carries a message that is still relevant, today."
