Pittsburgh Symphony to present Mahler's RESURRECTION

Segal Center's CLASSIX Reading Series to Celebrate Black Playwrights

The Martin E. Segal Theatre Center, located at The Graduate Center, CUNY, will present readings of rarely seen plays by Black playwrights on Monday, May 22 and Tuesday, May 23. The readings are free and open to the public on a first come, first served basis.

Jakub Hr?ša To Make New York Philharmonic Debut, 5/25

Czech conductor Jakub Hr?ša will make his New York Philharmonic debut leading an all-Czech program featuring Dvo?ák's Violin Concerto, with Augustin Hadelich as soloist; three of Dvo?ák's Slavonic Dances (Op. 46, No. 1; Op. 72, No. 2; and Op. 72, No. 7); and Janá?ek's Taras Bulba, Rhapsody for Orchestra, Thursday, May 25, 2017, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, May 26 at 2:00 p.m.; and Saturday, May 27 at 8:00 p.m.

Pianist Shai Wosner Launches Latest Album, IMPROMPTU

This spring, pianist Shai Wosner's latest solo album, Impromptu, is released on Onyx Classics. The recording, which features improvisationally inspired works by seven different composers, marks Mr. Wosner's fourth solo recital recording for Onyx and his sixth recording for the label overall. He performs Schubert's Four Impromptus, D935; Chopin's Impromptus, Op. 29, 36, and 51; Beethoven's Fantasy in G, Op. 77; Liszt's Impromptu (Nocturne), S191; Dvo?ak's Impromptu in D minor, B129; Gershwin's Impromptu in Two Keys; and Ives's Improvisations for piano, I and III. Available via iTunes, Amazon.com, and other music retailers, the recording was released in the U.K. on Friday, April 7, and will be available in the U.S. on Friday, May 5.

PEN World Voices Festival Begins Next Month

The thirteenth annual PEN World Voices Festival of International Literature will focus its lens on today's fractious relationship between gender and power. Taking place in New York City, May 1-7, 2017, the weeklong Festival will use literature and the arts to address how gender both enables and impairs full participation in politics and society.

Adelheid Roosen of The Netherlands Names 2017 LPTW Gilder/Coigney International Theatre Award Recipient

On Friday, March 31, 2017, The League of Professional Theatre Women (LPTW), a not-for-profit organization committed to promoting visibility and increasing opportunities for women in the professional theatre, made a special announcement at their annual 2017 Awards Celebration, Adelheid Roosen of The Netherlands has been chosen to receive the 2017 LPTW Gilder/Coigney International Theatre Award.

New Season of THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD IN 100 PERFORMANCES WITH ADAM GOPNIK Launches

A new season of The History of the World in 100 Performances with Adam Gopnik begins on Monday, April 3, at the David Rubenstein Atrium, with a look at the career of the great American soprano Leontyne Price. Joining Gopnik are internationally renowned soprano Renee Fleming and rising soprano Julia Bullock. Interspersed with audio and video clips, they will discuss Ms. Price's extraordinary career and the significance of the pioneering African-American soprano's role on the world's stages. Ms. Bullock will also sing several of Ms. Price's signature arias. The entire evening will be streamed on Facebook Live on Lincoln Center's Facebook Page.

Taylor Mac to Receive 2017 Booth Award

Join us for an evening celebrating the groundbreaking work of Taylor Mac, American actor, playwright, performance artist, director, producer, and singer-songwriter. Mac's 24-hour, 246-song marathon performance, A 24-Decade History of Popular Music, was hailed by Wesley Morris in the New York Times as "one of the greatest experiences of my life" and was recently named the 2017 recipient of the Edward M. Kennedy Prize for Drama Inspired by American History.
