Stewart F. Lane to Receive the John Denver Spirit Award

This Wednesday, October 12th the John Denver Spirit Award will be presented to Stewart F. Lane at a ceremony in Central Park (West 75th Street and the West Lake at the Ladies Pavilion), New York City taking place at 5:45PM. Presented by The Starsong Foundation and JD Spirit, the award celebrates the legacy of the late singer/songwriter John Denver.

The Fantasticks opened in 1960 and when the show closed in 2002 it had seen 17,162 performances in its original location, the Sullivan Street Playhouse, a small off-Broadway theatre in Greenwich Village, making it the longest running show in the history. Nine presidents have seen The Fantasticks and generation after generation have embraced the universality of the show.

This summer the fun continues at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center with two installments of the much loved Late Nite Catechism Series with performances of Late Nite Catechism July 12-23 and 'Til Death Do Us Part: Late Nite Catechism 3 playing August 2-13. The Asbury Park Boardwalk today announced another important milestone in its incredible resurgence. A destination deeply rooted in music, art and entertainment will now welcome a resident company to one of its historic venues. Starting June 24, the critically acclaimed Golden Dragon Acrobats will bring 'Cirque Ziva,' a show created by impresario Danny Chang specifically for Asbury Pak audiences, to the Paramount Theatre for a five-week run.

After working together on the critically acclaimed run of the original play 'Keep Your Baggage With You (at all times)' at Theater for the New City in 2010 (written by Jonathan Blitstein, directed by Daniel Talbott), Daniel Abeles, Jonathan Blitstein, Nate Miller and Laura Ramadei teamed up to launch a new theater company called LESSER AMERICA. Theater For the New City has granted Lesser America a residency affording the group three full-scale productions in its inaugural year, the first residency of its kind at the theater.
