The Clear Space Theatre Company of Rehoboth Beach is putting the finishing touches on AN AMERICAN CHRISTMAS CAROL in preparation for opening night on Friday, November 29th - directly following the Rehoboth Beach Christmas Tree Lighting. This year, Clear Space is presenting popular Charles Dickens' tale with a new and distinctly American slant, as it is relocated from London, England in 1843 to London, Kentucky in 1937 - toward the end of the Great Depression. With music by Clear Space Artistic Director Doug Yetter and lyrics by Michael Hulett, the production maintains all of the original characters as well as the themes we've all grown to love. Director and Production Set Designer Kevin Smith brings a fresh perspective to the traditional "old war horse" saga by adding much more "spirit," knowing that Dickens' intention was to write a ghost story which happens to occur on Christmas Eve, which this revitalized version cleverly delivers!

With that in mind, Mr. Schue gives a nod to the two seniors going for it in the big city - Blaine and Sam. With a theme of Billy Joel, a man who struggled for years in his pursuit of the arts, Blaine and Sam kick it off with "Movin Out (Anthony's Song)" and move it on out to New York to pursue their passions. Artie confronts Becky about her lack of future plans, but Sue sways him away and stops the conversation, while tensions are high between Marley and Jake after his cheating with Bree. In New York, Kurt builds up Blaine's confidence for his big NYADA audition by having him perform "Piano Man" at Spotlight.

Trustus Theatre is bringing a new adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol to the Thigpen Main Stage this December. This new script by Patrick Barlow, the Tony-award winning playwright of The 39 Steps, is a whirlwind telling of the classic holiday story where five actors take on all of the roles. Trustus will be one of only four theatres who have the rights to produce this new adaptation as the show also makes its Off-Broadway premiere this holiday season. Scrooge and all of his ghostly counterparts will come to the Thigpen Main Stage as A Christmas Carol opens Friday December 6th at 8:00pm.
