New Performing Arts School Comedy Series 'Victorious' a Go

Nickelodeon has announced that they will partner with Columbia/Epic Label Group (a label group of Sony Music Entertainment) to co-produce Victorious, an original new live-action comedy series from prolific creator and executive producer Dan Schneider (iCarly, Zoey 101, Drake & Josh) and featuring teen star Victoria Justice (Zoey 101, Spectacular!). Twenty episodes have been ordered of the half-hour comedy series, which is set in a modern day Hollywood school for the performing arts and features an ensemble cast of teens who act, sing, dance and perform original music. The series, set to premiere in 2010, is currently being produced in Los Angeles, CA.

Iconic funny man Bill Cosby, who has been making audiences laugh for decades with his keen insight into everyday existence, will be honored by a variety of former co-stars and luminaries, including Len Chandler, James De Priest, Danny Glover, Dick Gregory Jimmy Heath, George Lopez, Wynton Marsalis, Rita Moreno, Willie Nelson, Phylicia Rashad, Carl Reiner, Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, Sinbad, and Malcolm-Jamal Warner in a salute at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall on Monday, October 26, 2009 at 8pm as Cosby receives the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

Bill Cosby has been awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. The Kennedy Center will present the comedian with this award on October 26th at the Center's concert hall. Along with the accompanying festivities, the award ceremony will be filmed for later broadcast on PBS.

As I entered the theatre itself to find my seat, I came face-to-face for the first time in lord knows how long with Reba Perkins, one of my favorite Nashville actresses, who now works part-time as an usher for TPAC. Reba's genuinely heartfelt response to seeing me was heartwarming and reassuring. Instantly, my mind went back to the first time I had the opportunity to review Reba's onstage work, in the Circle Players production of August Wilson's The Piano Lesson. She gave a wonderfully nuanced performance that garnered rave reviews all around and resulted in her being nominated for a First Night Award that season.
