Kirkland PAC Announce 2013 Season Lineup

"Puff the Magic Dragon" singer-songwriter Peter Yarrow and Pulitzer Prize winning musicians eighth blackbird both perform in the next two weeks at the Kirkland Performance Center. There's also a world premier new work by Seattle-based Khambatta Dance Co. and hilarious political commentary with Mark Russell. There wouldn't be John Stewart and Stephen Colbert without Mark Russell! VIP Tickets are available for Mark Russell on January 24 are $75. Quantities are limited and VIP patrons receive prime seating and the opportunity to meet the artists after the show. A complete list of shows for the remainder of the season is available at www.kpcenter.org. Tickets are available over the phone at (425) 893-9900 or at the KPC Box Office Noon - 6pm Tues - Sat and until curtain on show days (hours are subject to change seasonally). Center Theatre Group Announces ENTER LAUGHING, THE MUSICAL Reading to Honor Carl Reiner, 1/28

In honor of comedy legend Carl Reiner's 75 years in the business, Center Theatre Group is presenting a staged reading of "Enter Laughing, The Musical," which is inspired by Reiner's experiences as a young man struggling to break into theatre in New York. The one night only event directed by Stuart Ross ("Forever Plaid"), Mark Taper Forum on Monday, January 28, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. is already sold out.

KC Rep Awarded Mellon Grant for Playwright Residency

The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has awarded a $174,000 three-year playwright residency grant to Kansas City Repertory Theatre for Nathan Louis Jackson to join the Rep's artistic staff. The award is one of 14 Mellon residency grants made in December 2012. Jackson, an award-winning playwright and a native of Kansas City, Kansas, will begin his residency in July 2013.

Arvada Center Will Present BLITHE SPIRIT, Opening 1/22

The Arvada Center will open the farcical comedy, Blithe Spirit by Noel Coward (Private Lives, Design for Living) on January 22, 2013. Blithe Spirit directed by Rod A. Lansberry, runs in the intimate Black Box Theater January 22 - February 17. Previews are January 18 - 20 at 7:30 p.m. nightly. Performances are Tuesday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday at 1:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Talkbacks will be offered Friday, February 1 after the 7:30 p.m. show and Wednesday, February 6 after the 1:00 p.m. show. With humor and vision, 'Kane and Habil in the Pizza Parlor' (http://kaneandhabil.com) explores the original family sins that are still impacting our civilization. The title characters are the children of Adam and Eve. The play is a comedy, written and directed by Serge Ernandez. The production features an adept cast headed by Obie-winner Sheila Dabney as Eve, who also directs the play's chorus. Ernandez is a veteran of The Living Theatre; Dabney is a senior member of La MaMa's Great Jones Rep. La MaMa E.T.C. will present the play's premiere run January 18 to 27 in its second-floor Club.

Five Finalists Named in PFP's Great Gay Play Contest

Five finalists have been named in Pride Films and Plays' Great Gay Play Contest for 2013. These five plays will be performed as enhanced staged readings (with movement and design elements) by members of the Artistic Ensemble of Pride Films and Plays during Gay Play Weekend, May 16 to 19, 2013 at Center on Halsted's Hoover-Leppen Theatre, 3656 N. Halsted, Chicago. A full performance schedule for the weekend will be announced in January.

If 'Adam's Rib' and 'Moneyball' mated and begat a play, it might be 'Skybox,' a comedy of class warfare and the battle of the sexes that is set in the luxury box of a major league baseball park. The play, written by Walt Stepp and directed by Lissa Moira, is the successor to their collaboration on 'Siren's Heart: Norma Jean and Marilyn in Purgatory,' a play by Stepp which started at Theater for the New City and is now running Off-Broadway at the Actors Temple Theatre. 'Skybox' has been extended at Theater for the New City through December 9, 2012. Get a first look at the show in the photos below!

Shana Farr Celebrates Debut CD with Release Party and Concert at The Players Club Tonight

Shana Farr, who last month won The Mabel Mercer Foundation's 2012 Julie Wilson Award as "a cabaret singer who is a rising star," has just completed her debut CD, titled Shana Farr: Out Of The Shadows , which will be introduced at a CD release party and performance at The Players Club, 16 Gramercy Park South, in New York City tonight, November 30, at 9 PM. Ms. Farr is backed by a trio comprised of Music Director Jon Weber (piano), Adam Fisher (cello) and Dan Levinson (clarinet).
