NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts will sponsor a panel discussion on 'Shakespeare Around the World' on Tuesday, March 4 at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (1000 Fifth Avenue at 82nd Street). The event begins with an open exhibit of 'Ink Art' at 3PM, followed by the 4PM panel discussion and a 5PM reception. The panel is free with museum admission. 'Big River' a musical adaptation of Mark Twain's classic 1884 novel, opens tonight, Feb. 20th at HCTO. Huckleberry Finn, a Missouri boy, hates the 'civilized' life, and decides to fake his death and live on his own. However, Huck's retreat is cut short when he runs into Jim, a run-away slave. Fearing capture, the two set off on a raft down the Mississippi River in search of freedom. A musical based on Mark Twain's big-hearted American adventure of self-discovery and true friendship.

Craig Shemin, President of The Jim Henson Legacy and author of the lavishly illustrated and meticulously researched new Muppets Character Encyclopedia (2014, DK Publishing), will present a program featuring memorable moments from the biggest Muppet stars, as well as rare highlights of some lesser known characters featured in his book. The event, on Saturday, February 22, at 1:00 p.m., will include video clips and a Muppet trivia contest with prizes, followed by a book signing. Copies of the book are available for purchase in the Museum store.
