Arena Stage Holds National Convening Focused on New Play Development

Now in its second year, the American Voices New Play Institute at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater will hold a four-day convening bringing together more than 100 theater practitioners from across the country to further the dialogue around new play development.

Phobophilia Plays HERE For Under The Radar Festival 1/5-10

As part of the 2011 Under The Radar Festival, HERE proudly presents Phobophilia, a provocative multimedia exploration of the interconnectedness between fear and desire. Unnerving and intimate, this production from Montreal's 2boys.tv, created and performed by Stephen Lawson and Aaron Pollard, plays Wednesday, January 5 - Monday, January 10 at HERE (145 Sixth Avenue).

WALK ACROSS AMERICA Comes To La MaMa ETC, Previews 1/15

THE WALK ACROSS AMERICA FOR MOTHER EARTH - the newest work from Taylor Mac whose epic THE LILY'S REVENGE was a smash hit Off-Broadway last year - will be given its world-premiere in a production presented by La MaMa ETC in association with the renowned, Obie Award-winning theatre company The Talking Band, with previews beginning January 15, 2011 prior to its official opening night on Thursday, January 20 at the Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 E. 4 St.) in Manhattan. The January 15th and 16th preview performances are part of the Under the Radar Festival, with a special ticket price of $20.

What puppeteer doesn't wonder what will happen to him as he impersonates the creator? In 'Wake Up, You're Dead!,' Aaron Haskell of Brooklyn Art Department (www.brooklynartdepartment.com), one of the original designers of Nightmare: NYC's Haunted House, gives us a Halloween-flavored creation myth. It's a De La Guarda-type event and spectacle that adds a late-night attraction to 'La MaMa Puppet Series IV--Built to Perform.' It will be presented October 29 to November 7 in the second-floor Club of La MaMa E.T.C., 74A East Fourth Street.
