Playwrights David Henry Hwang and Lynn Nottage to Teach at Columbia

Carol Becker, Dean of Faculty of Columbia University School of the Arts, announced today the appointment of two acclaimed playwrights to the faculty of the Arts: David Henry Hwang, Associate Professor of Theatre in Playwriting and director of the Playwriting Concentration, and Lynn Nottage, Associate Professor of Theatre in Playwriting.

EPIX to Present AND THE ENVELOPE PLEASE... on 2/17 & 24

Premium entertainment network EPIX will celebrate the Academy Awards with aseries of programs and films devoted to all things Oscar. And the Envelope Please..., a series in collaboration with the Los Angeles Times, featuring panel interviews with casts and crews of this year's Oscar hopefuls, moderated by writers from the Los Angeles Times. Signature Theatre Extends Betty Buckley-Led THE OLD FRIENDS Through 10/20

Signature Theatre has announced a third and final one week extension for the World Premiere of Horton Foote's THEOLD FRIENDS, directed by Michael Wilson. The production will now play its final performance on Sunday, October 20. THE OLD FRIENDS opened to critical acclaim on September 12 in The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). Tickets during the extension weeks are $75 each.

Signature Theatre Extends THE OLD FRIENDS Through 10/13

Signature Theatre has announced an additional one-week extension for the World Premiere of Horton Foote's THE OLD FRIENDS, directed by Michael Wilson. The production will now play through Sunday, October 13. THE OLD FRIENDS opened to critical acclaim on September 12 in The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). Limited $25 subsidized tickets remain for the production's initial run. Tickets during the extension weeks are $75 each.

THE RECOMMENDATION Extended Through 10/7 at The Flea

Due to critical acclaim The Flea Theater has announced a limited extension through October 7th. This play about friendship, class and where loyalty has its limits is directed by Flea Resident Director Kel Haney and features members of The Bats. Previews began August 23 with closing originally slated for September 22.

Signature Theatre has announced that complete casting is confirmed and tickets are now on sale for the World Premiere of Horton Foote's THE OLD FRIENDS, directed by Michael Wilson. All tickets for the initial run of the production are $25 as part of the Signature Ticket Initiative: A Generation of Access. Mortar Theatre Company Presents SEEK AND YE SHALL FIND, 5/6-6/8

Mortar Theatre Company will present the world premiere of Seek and Ye Shall Findwritten and performed by Sentell Harper**. The one-man show, directed by Stephanie Stroud*, is performed at the Apollo Theater Studio, 2540 N. Lincoln Avenue, May 6 - June 8. Opening/Press night is Monday, May 6 at 7:30 p.m. The performances run on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 3 p.m. and Sundays at 7 p.m. There will be no performances on Sunday May 26 and Monday 27 in observance of Memorial Day weekend. Instead, there will be a 7:30pm performance on Tuesday May 28. Tickets go on sale Monday, April 29. Ticket prices are $15 for general admission, $10 for students, and $10 for groups and may be purchased at MortarTheatreCompany.org or at the Apollo Theater box office at 773.935.6100.
