Signature Theatre Extends Betty Buckley-Led THE OLD FRIENDS Through 10/20

By:

Signature Theatre has announced a third and final one week extension for the World Premiere of Horton Foote's THEOLD FRIENDS, directed by Michael Wilson. The production will now play its final performance on Sunday, October 20. THE OLD FRIENDS opened to critical acclaim on September 12 in The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). Tickets during the extension weeks are $75 each.

The cast includes Tony Award-winner Betty Buckley (Sunset Boulevard, Cats) as Gertrude Hayhurst Sylvester Ratliff, Tony Award-nominee Veanne Cox (A Free Man of Color, La Cage aux Folles) as Julia Price, Tony Award-nominee Hallie Foote (The Orphans' Home Cycle, Dividing the Estate) as Sibyl Borden, Adam LeFevre (Priscilla Queen of the Desert) as Albert Price, Sean Lyons (Gore Vidal's The Best Man) as Tom Underwood, Novella Nelson (It's Kind of a Funny Story, Purlie) as Hattie, Melle Powers ("Chappelle's Show") as Catherine, Cotter Smith (Next Fall) as Howard Ratliff and Tony Award-nominee Lois Smith (Heartless, The Trip to Bountiful) as Mamie Borden.

In this World Premiere play by Signature Legacy Playwright Horton Foote, matriarch Mamie Borden and the remaining members of two longtime Texas farming families await a visit from Mamie's son Hugo and his wife Sibyl. When Sibyl arrives with alarming news, old friends on opposing sides must confront the issues surrounding legacy, loyalty, and the meaning of happiness that have hounded them for generations. Helmed by Michael Wilson, director of Signature's acclaimed 2009 production of The Orphans' Home Cycle and the current critically acclaimed Broadway production of The Trip to Bountiful, THE OLD FRIENDS is an absorbing and vital chapter in Foote's beloved, distinctly American body of work.

The design team includes Jeff Cowie (Scenic Design), David C. Woolard (Costume Design), Rui Rita (Lighting Design), John Gromada (Original Music and Sound Design), Paul Huntley (Wig & Hair Design), Mark Olsen (Fight Director), Gillian Lane-Plescia (Dialect Coach), and Peter Pucci (Choreographer). Casting by Telsey + Company, William Cantler CSA. Cole P. Bonenberger is Production Stage Manager.
