Apollo's Fire Launches Its 24th Season With BACH'S BIRTHDAY PARTY: ORCHESTRAL FIREWORKS, 10/9-12

Apollo's Fire, the Cleveland Baroque Orchestra kicks off the 2014-15 Season with a festive celebration of J.S. Bach's "Orchestral Fireworks," launching a season that will celebrate Bach's 330th birthday throughout the year. In these opening concerts, the group will unveil three great Bach pieces never yet played by Apollo's Fire: Concerto in C minor for Two Harpsichords, BWV 1060 (featuring Jeannette Sorrell and Joe Gascho on harpsichord), Violin Concerto in E Major (featuring AF concertmaster Olivier Brault), and Orchestral Suite No. 2 in B Minor for Flute & Strings (featuring Kathie Stewart on flute). Through guest speakers, lecture demonstrations, performance previews, and panel discussions, American Repertory Ballet's On Pointe series gives the public an inside look at the world of dance and, within that, ARB's unique work. ARB's 'Fall Repertory Preview' On Pointe will be held October 10, 2014 at 5:15pm. This On Pointe event will feature American Repertory Ballet dancers performing excerpts from upcoming ARB productions.

New York City Center Kicks Off 11th Annual FALL FOR DANCE FESTIVAL Today

New York City Center's 11th annual Fall for Dance Festival will feature free performances in Central Park and 24 acclaimed dance companies and artists from around the world, in six unique programs in September and October 2014. In keeping with the Festival's commitment to make dance accessible to everyone, the Festival will kick off with two FREE evenings of dance at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park, in association with The Public Theater, today and tomorrow, September 12 and 13 (rain date, September 14) and will continue at City Center from October 8 - October 19 with all tickets at $15. The Festival's many free pre-show events will include dance lessons and panels by choreographers, artists and dance educators. Tickets will go on sale Sunday, September 14 at 11 a.m.

Rococo Rouge runs from today, September 9 to November 2, 2014 in a limited 8-week engagement at Company XIV's new intimate, 100-seat theatre-lounge home, XIV, located at 428 Lafayette Street, between Astor Place and East 4th Street in New York City. Previews begin tonight, September 9 for a September 20 opening.

The Kansas City Ballet Announces New Artistic Staff and Company Members

Kansas City Ballet Artistic Director Devon Carney today announced the appointment of three new members of the artistic staff: Grace Holmes as the new Director of Kansas City Ballet School, Kristi Capps as the new Ballet Master and Anthony Krutzkamp as newly created position of Manager of KCB II. Carney also announced eleven new members of the Company, increasing the Company from 28 to 29 members for the 2014-2015 season. He also announced the appointment of four new KCB II dancers, which stands at six members. Carney also announced the creation of a Trainee Program with five students, two selected from Kansas City Ballet School.

This Thursday, August 21, 2014, Princeton Ballet School will host a special workshop led by notable alumna and Fulbright Scholar Casey Lee Thorne. Thorne graduated from Princeton Ballet School's Professional Training Program and is Founder and Artistic Director of Inside Out Contemporary Ballet (IOCB), a professional dance company based in Marin, California. She will lead a contemporary dance workshop for advanced dancers at Princeton Ballet School's studios in Princeton, NJ on August 21, 2014 from 11:45 am until 1:15 pm. The workshop is part of Thorne's choreographic project If I Were You - Project Israel, for which she recently received a Fulbright Scholarship.
