Chase Brock works in reverse of conventional modern dance choreographers who take aim at Broadway only after establishing themselves on the 'serious' concert dance stage. Brock, who began his career at age 16 on the Great White Way in 'The Music Man,' recently committed his prodigious talent to modern dance.

In The Breath of Life: Spiced to Perfection, and With Just the Right Blend of Ingredients (Copyright 2009), Len Bourret comments on THE BREATH OF LIFE, premiering at the Westport Country Playhouse on September 29 for a limited run through October 17, starring Jane Alexander and Stockard Channing, with a book by David Hare. Broadway's most talked about new musical and the biggest Tony Award-winner in years is coming to the Orange County Performing Arts Center.

Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Andre Bishop, Artistic Director, and Bernard Gersten, Executive Producer) will present the world premiere of A.R. Gurney's new play THE GRAND MANNER, directed by Mark Lamos, this spring in the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater. Performances will begin Thursday, May 27. Opening night is scheduled for Thursday, June 24.

New York City Opera today released full casting details for the 2009-2010 season, its first under the new leadership of General Manager and Artistic Director George Steel. Westport Country Playhouse will celebrate its 80th anniversary in 2010, staging a season of five productions including musicals, comedy and drama at the historic theater in Westport, Connecticut. 2010 will be the first official season of artistic programming by Mark Lamos, who was appointed Playhouse artistic director in February 2009.

Guest speaker will be Howard Sherman, executive director of the American Theatre Wing. The symposium will be a free-ranging discussion about the playwright, his influences and his impact on the modern theatre.
