New York's OBIE Award-winning Epic Theatre Ensemble (Zak Berkman, Melissa Friedman, Ron Russell, Founding Executive Directors) today announced the cast and creative team for the New York premiere of Sarah Ruhl's Passion Play (In The Next Room… or the vibrator play) and directed by Mark Wing-Davey (The Singing Forest). The cast will include Brendan Averett, Polly Noonan, Daniel Pearce, Alex Podulke, Keith Reddin, Godfrey L. Simmons Jr., T. Ryder Smith, Felix Solis Jr., Kate Turnbull and Nicole Wiesner.

Yesterday evening, May 10, the Algonquin Hotel hosted the 75th Annual New York Drama Critics' Circle Award ceremony honoring the best of the 2009-2010 theatre season. This year's honorees included casts and creative teams of The Orphans' Home Cycle, Fences, Circle Mirror Transformation, The Aliens; Viola Davis, Annie Baker, and Hallie Foote. Presenters included Denzel Washington, who presented the Award for Sustained Achievement to his Fence's co-star Viola Davis, Tony Kushner and Marian Seldes.

Multitalented Neil Patrick Harris is set to step behind the camera and direct an episode of 'How I Met Your Mother' this week, which will air on January 18. Though a series regular, this will mark Harris's directing debut, and a rarity for the show as Pamela Fryman has directed 92 of 'How I Met Your Mother's' 97 episodes.

CBS's hit sitcom, How I Met Your Mother, celebrated the broadcast of its 100th episode last night. In the episode, Neil Patrick Harris busts out in song and dance when Barney (Harris) is torn between a hot woman -- Karina, the bartender -- and his suit. He is joined by the entire cast in the musical number, 'Nothing Suits Me Like a Suit,' written by the show's exec producers/creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, as Barney debates surrendering his suits in order to land Karina (Stacy Keibler). Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning playwright Tony Kushner will receive the 2009 Chicago Tribune Literary Prize for lifetime achievement. The recognition will be presented November 8th during a special event at Symphony Center, as part of the Chicago Humanities Festival.

The entertainment trade paper reports 'among the three full productions of plays by Kushner -- the 'Angels in America' scribe whose work is not exactly known for its modesty of scope or running time -- is the world preem of his latest, 'The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide to Capitalism and Socialism With a Key to the Scriptures,' which began perfs May 15th. Also on the roster is an evening of short works, 'Tiny Kushner,' which began May 16th.'

Variety reports that Stephen Collins and Tony Roberts have joined the cast of Manhattan Theater Club's upcoming Broadway revival of THE ROYAL FAMILY.

Guthrie Director Joe Dowling today announced directors for the three productions slated to headline the theater's 2009 Tony Kushner celebration, in addition to three speaking events designed to expand and enhance the issues raised in the work of this Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright.
