Miller Theatre at Columbia University Presents STEVEN SCHICK: SOLO, 1/30

On Thursday, January 30 and Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 8:00pm, Miller Theatre at Columbia University presents STEVEN SCHICK: SOLO, a two-night percussion extravaganza that will encompass the world of solo percussion composition from its beginnings in the 1950's avant-garde, to the current day.

Conductor Jeffrey Milarsky returns to Walt Disney Concert Hall to lead the LA Phil New Music Group in a Green Umbrella concert, Tuesday, April 10, at 8 pm. The concert features the world premiere of Oscar Bettison's LA Phil-commissioned Livre des Sauvages, the U.S. premiere of Karlheinz Stockhausen's Five Star Signs, and John Cage's Concerto for Prepared Piano, performed by Gloria Cheng. Milarsky replaces John Adams, who had to withdraw as conductor due to scheduling demands.

It can be difficult and stressful to try and start up a new theatre company. There are just so many things that have to be taken into consideration, and there are always last minute items that pop up at the most inconvenient time. This being said, Bear Stage made their debut at the Jelkyl Theatre in St. Charles this past weekend and, all things considered, presented a pretty solid production of PUMP BOYS AND DINETTES.
