David Zwirner Presents CONCRETE CUBA, 9/5-10/3

David Zwirner is pleased to present a comprehensive exhibition of paintings and sculptures by the Cuban group of abstract painters Los Diez Pintores Concretos (Ten Concrete Painters), which was active from 1959 to 1961. Concrete Cuba is the first presentation in the United Kingdom to highlight the origins of concretism in Cuba during the 1950s, and will include important works by the artists who were at different times associated with the short-lived group: Pedro Álvarez, Wifredo Arcay, Mario Carreño, Salvador Corratgé, Sandú Darié, Luis Martínez Pedro, Alberto Menocal, José Mijares, Pedro de Oraá, José Ángel Rosabal, Loló Soldevilla, and Rafael Soriano.

5th The Outstanding Filipino Americans In New York Awards Set Oct. 31 at Carnegie Hall

In its fifth edition, The Outstanding Filipino Americans in New York (TOFA-NY) Awards honor 15 organizations and individuals who have inspired the community with their passion, conviction, and achievements. Presented by AARP, TOFA-NY caps the month-long Filipino American Heritage celebrations in the New York tri-state area. This year's TOFA-NY Awards ceremony is slated for 8 p.m. on October 31 at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall.

August Strindberg's THE STORM to Play the Gene Frankel Theatre This Fall

August Strindberg Repertory Theatre will present Strindberg's THE STORM, adapted and directed by Robert Greer, October 4 to 30 as part of an exploration of the author's final works. The piece deals with the marriage foibles of an elderly government minister. Strindberg named it Opus 1 of his 'Chamber Plays' and wrote it for his Intimate Theater in Stockholm, where it was produced in 1907-8. It will be performed in rotating repertory during the month of October with BURNT HOUSE, Opus 2 of the Chamber Plays, which is also adapted by Robert Greer but directed by Whitney Gail Aronson. Both productions are at Gene Frankel Theatre, 24 Bond Street, where August Strindberg Rep is the resident company.

Telemundo to air D.C.: LA BIBLIA CONTINUA & FRANCISCO, EL JESUITA in Honor of Pope Francis' First Visit to U.S.

 In anticipation of Pope Francis' first visit to the United States, TELEMUNDO announces the premiere of the first Spanish-language version of “D.C.: La Biblia Continúa” (A.D.: The Bible Continues) and “Francisco, El Jesuita” (Francis the Jesuit) on Sunday, September 13th. Following the success of “La Biblia” (The Bible), which became the highest-rated 8pm premiere among total viewers in the network's history, “D.C.: La Biblia Continúa,” set to air at 8pm/7c, continues the inspiring events that followed the Crucifixion of Christ. At 10pm/9c, TELEMUNDO presents “Francisco, El Jesuita,” the only official and authorized biography of the Pope which chronicles the life and work of Jorge Mario Bergoglio, the first Latin American and Jesuit Pope.

Opera Saratoga's 2016 Summer Festival to Include U.S. Premiere of WITCHES OF VENICE and More

Lawrence Edelson, Artistic and General Director of Opera Saratoga, announced today the program for the 2016 Summer Festival, which will run from May 28th through July 17, 2016. The season will feature three new productions, along with a diverse slate of recitals, concerts and master classes at multiple locations in Saratoga Springs, New York. Included in the lineup is Italian opera, WITCHES OF VENICE, which will make its U.S. premiere next summer as part of the festival.

Rover Dramawerks is pleased to conclude their 15th Anniversary Season with the classic comedy, Cactus Flower, by Abe Burrows. Performances will be at Rover's new theatre in Plano, located in Ruisseau Village at 221 W. Parker Rd, Suite 580, at the northwest corner of Parker and 75. Performances are September 10 - October 3, 2015, with shows on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m., plus an additional matinee performance on Saturday, September 19 at 2:00 p.m.
