?Neighborhood Classics presents celebrated violinist Rachel Barton Pine in concert on Tuesday, November 18 at 7pm at P.S. 321 in Brooklyn (180 Seventh Ave.). Pine will perform Bach's Sonata in G Minor and selections from Paganini's 24 Caprices, Op. 1, plus new works dedicated to her from New York composers Mohammed Fairouz (“For Egypt” from Sonata for Unaccompanied Violin Native Informant, from 2011) and Earl Maneein (Be12(OH)12(BTB)4 Metal Organic Framework, from 2014). The concert will be hosted by Neighborhood Classics Founder and Artistic Director Simone Dinnerstein. All ticket sales for this one-hour, family-friendly concert benefit P.S. 321.
The Brooklyn-based composer Paola Prestini's work has been deemed "radiant [and] amorously evocative" by The New York Times, which has also hailed "her gift for bringing together disparate artists, technicians and other creative professionals to produce cross-disciplinary works greater than the sum of their parts." Her multimedia opera Oceanic Verses perfectly reveals her sensibility as a composer, a creator of multimedia productions, and a wholeheartedly entrepreneurially artist. She commissioned the work through her non-profit company, VisionIntoArt (VIA), whose new label, VIA Records, will release Prestini's music and collaborator Ali Hossaini's visuals as a beautifully designed CD/DVD package on November 18.

Soprano Amanda Majeski is a 2009 George London Award winner who just made her Metropolitan Opera debut in the Met's season-opening presentation of Le nozze di Figaro, and bass-baritone Ryan McKinny is a 2011 George London Award winner who this past summer sang the roles of Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire with the Los Angeles Opera and Billy Bigelow in Carousel at Glimmerglass Opera. Together, they will open the 2014-15 season of the George London Foundation for Singers with a joint recital at Gilder Lehrman Hall at The Morgan Library and Museum on Sunday, November 9, 2014, at 4:30 PM, with pianist Ken Noda.
