Brevard Symphony Presents RUSSIAN MASTERS With Terrence Wilson, 11/19

Fanfare trumpets will herald the opening of Tchaikovsky's thrilling "Polonaise" from his opera "Eugene Onegin" when the Brevard Symphony Orchestra takes the stage on November 19th at the King Center for the Performing Arts in Melbourne. Audience favorite Terrence Wilson returns to perform with the BSO for one of the most beloved concertos ever written - Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto.

New Amsterdam Singers Presents O MAGNUM MYSTERIUM: RENAISSANCE AND CONTEMPORARY MEDITATIONS OF THE SEASON, 12/16

The New Amsterdam Singers, led by music director Clara Longstreth, will present O Magnum Mysterium: Renaissance and Contemporary Meditations on the Season, a program of mostly a cappella sacred choral music, including works by Tomas Luis de Victoria, Jacob Handl, William Byrd, J.S. Bach, and contemporary composers Abbie Betinis, Stephen Paulus, Eric Whitacre, and Morten Lauridsen.

Cabrillo Festival Announces New Music Director and Conductor Cristian Macelaru

The Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, America's longest running festival dedicated to new music for orchestra, is pleased to appoint Cristian Macelaru as its new Music Director and Conductor. Macelaru takes on the position with immediate effect and conducts his inaugural season in August 2017. He succeeds longtime Music Director and Conductor Marin Alsop, who stepped down after her 25th Anniversary season this August.  

Spectrum Presents Festival Featuring The Music of Michael Hersch

Spectrum proudly presents a festival of music by composer Michael Hersch on September 7th, 8th and 11th. Featured performers include Michael Hersch, Miranda Cuckson, Mariel Roberts, Ah Young Hong, Jacob Rhodebeck, Gary Louie, Sophie Shao, and Michael Atkinson. Works include two New York premieres, a world premiere, and only the third-ever complete performance of his landmark "The Vanishing Pavilions" of 2005.

Renee Fleming to Sing Premiere of Kevin Puts' New Song Cycle LETTERS FROM GEORGIA

Letters from Georgia, a new song cycle based on the letters of painter Georgia O'Keeffe and composed by Pulitzer Prize-winner Kevin Puts, will receive its world premiere performances on November 12th and 14th, sung by four-time Grammy Award-winning soprano Renee Fleming and accompanied by the Eastman Philharmonia under the direction of Neil Varon.

League of American Orchestras Explores Diversity in National Conference in Baltimore, Beginning Today

The League of American Orchestras' 2016 National Conference in Baltimore, begins today, June 9, and continues through June 11. The conference focuses on orchestra diversity and inclusion, offering expert speakers from within the field and beyond, as well as a series of plenary and elective sessions on diversifying orchestra musicians, boards of directors, audiences, and the workplace. The Conference will welcome orchestra managers, musicians, staff, trustees, and volunteers from across the U.S.; it is the first League Conference to take place in Baltimore.

Oakland Symphony to Conclude Season with Tracy Silverman & More, Today

Oakland, March 23, 2016 – The Oakland Symphony, Music Director and Conductor Michael Morgan, the Oakland Symphony Chorus and guest artists Tracy Silverman, electric violin, and soprano Nicole Joseph will conclude the Symphony's 2015-2016 season with a concert of music by John Adams, Stravinsky, Barber and RavelToday, May 20, at 8 pm at the Paramount Theatre. Mr. Silverman will perform John Adams' The Dharma at Big Sur for orchestra and electric violin and Ms. Joseph, who was the winner of the 2015 Toland Vocal Arts Competition, will sing Samuel Barber's Knoxville: Summer of 1915. Completing the evening will be Stravinsky's Symphony of Psalms with the Oakland Symphony Chorus, Lynne Morrow, Director; and Ravel's La Valse. Pre-concert drinks, lobby entertainment and a talk begin at 7 pm and the concert is sponsored by Bell Investment Advisors.Tickets are priced $20-$75 and may be purchased at www.oaklandsymphony.org .
