Pittsburgh Public Theater is honored to welcome back Ted Pappas to direct Lucas Hnath's Broadway hit, A Doll's House, Part, 2. Ted was The Public's leader for 18 years before retiring last fall.
Producing Artistic Director Daniel Elihu Kramer has chosen to begin the season with the New York Drama Critics' Circle Best Play Winner The Night Alive, written by Irish playwright Conor McPherson, as a tribute to CTC's co-founder, Vincent Dowling, who served as Artistic Director of Dublin's Abbey Theatre in the late 80s, and who helmed CTC from its founding until 1995.

You see, he wants to get to the good stuff. A trauma involving his mother. A lifetime of self doubt. Forgiveness. Anyway, there's another actor on stage now. They are preparing to present an educational children's theatre show based on the life of murderer William Bradford Bishop. They are certain that it will be both marketing and compelling. The resulting performance is an amalgam of children's broadcast programming, live educational theatre, and William Bradford Bishop's violent acts in Bethesda, Maryland in 1976.

Conceived by a group of classmates from LaGuardia Arts High School (the 'Fame' school), the piece was originally workshopped in January 2014 at The Producers' Club, continued on to the New York International Fringe Festival at The Sheen Center, and will now extend to the FringeNYC Encore Series at SoHo Playhouse, to be helmed by director Hunter Bird and produced by Lionel Christian and Marielle Young, today, September 11-21.
