BWW Reviews: GOD'S EAR: Cries and Whispers

Actors' Shakespeare Project takes a break from the Bard to stage the first Boston area production of Jenny Schwartz's linguistically-rich play GOD'S EAR. Thomas Derrah directs and draws authentic, heartbreaking performances from Tamara Hickey and Gabriel Kuttner as a married couple grieving the tragic loss of their son. Humor and hope rise to the surface from the depths of their suffering.

BWW REVIEW: AND BABY MAKES COMPLICATIONS IN "A FUTURE PERFECT" AT SPEAKEASY STAGE

For thirty-something urban professionals grappling with balancing their personal lives with upwardly mobile careers, Ken Urban's A FUTURE PERFECT may feel timely and relevant. But for Boomers and one-time yuppies who are now the sandwich generation juggling the demands of work, college-bound children and aging parents, the play's conflicts may seem a bit worn.

From January 9 through February 7, 2015, SpeakEasy Stage Company will proudly present the World Premiere of A FUTURE PERFECT, a timely new comedy about friendship, babies, and defining success, written by Ken Urban.

The Sandra Feinstein-Gamm Theatre (The Gamm) is pleased to stage a new adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's Hedda Gabler. The Norwegian playwright's 19th-century antiheroine--and one of the famous enigmas of the stage--is the newly married, beautiful and inscrutable wife of an academic for whom the bourgeois life is simply not good enough. Gamm Artistic Director Tony Estrella, who authored this adaptation of Ibsen's masterpiece, directs Marianna Bassham (Joan in Far Away, Charlotte in The Real Thing) in the title role.

It was a winning night at Fenway Park for the Commonwealth Shakespeare Company and the hometown fans as they celebrated with an all-star roster for SHAKESPEARE AT FENWAY. BWW Review: Loyalties Tested in BECOMING CUBA at Huntington Theatre Company

Huntington Theatre Company playwright-in-residence Melinda Lopez collaborates with Director M. Bevin O'Gara to bring BECOMING CUBA to the Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts. Rich in historical content, the play is set in Havana in 1897 in the midst of the Cuban War of Independence (Spanish-American War), and features beautiful writing, fully-realized characters, and evocative design elements.
