Signature Theatre's WHAT I DID LAST SUMMER Begins Tonight

Signature Theatre presents What I Did Last Summer, written by A.R. Gurney and directed by Jim Simpson. The production runs tonight, April 28 to June 7 with a May 17 opening night in The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues).

Rattestick & piece by piece to Bring 'AFGHANISTAN, ZIMBABWE' to Gym at Judson

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater and piece by piece productions have announced that Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, America, Kuwait, written and directed by Daniel Talbott, will begin performances Thursday, May 21 at 7pm at The Gym at Judson, 243 Thompson Street. The opening night is set for Tuesday, June 9 at 7pm. The production is scheduled to run through Saturday, June 27.

Signature Theatre has announced a one week extension for the world premiere of The Painted Rocks at Revolver Creek, written and directed by Athol Fugard. The production begins performances tonight, April 21 and will now run through June 7 with a May 11 opening night in The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues).

Masterworks Broadway to Release Three New Classic Albums

Masterworks Broadway continues to make good on its promise to make available its extensive catalog of cast recordings with the release of three classic albums from the archives previously unavailable on CD - Dames at Sea - The Original London Cast Recording (April 14), Two's Company (May 4), andAges of Man (June 16). Upon release, each title will be accompanied by new album pages and photos on MasterworksBroadway.com.

Bay Area Playwrights Festival Partners with Tides Theatre

Playwrights Foundation has announced a partnership with Tides Theatre as the new home for our annual Bay Area Playwrights Festival (BAPF), now in its 38th year, which will run July 17-27, 2015 at the 90-seat theater in the heart of San Francisco's Theater District.

There are an endless number of ways for a new theater company to make its mark. In a crowded artistic and theatrical landscape, a fledgling company must find a way to stand out and be noticed. A way to make its voice heard. Some will succeed spectacularly while others will fail just as spectacularly. Now entering its third season, OUT LOUD Theatre has begun to carve out quite a successful path for itself. Last season's Metamorphoses proved just how talented and skillful the company could be at pure storytelling. This season's opening show, Fefu and Her Friends, allows the company to demonstrate equal talent in bringing a distinctive voice and vision to a theatrical event that is entertaining and exhilarating.

Exploring the struggle between the individual and the state, this elegant tragedy about tyrannical power and civil disobedience is considered to be Sophocles' masterpiece and has become synonymous with political protest.

The two-time Tony Award-winning actress Tammy Grimes (PRIVATE LIVES, THE UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN) and composer David Amram (scores for the films SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS and THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE) will be honored at Theater for the New City's 12th annual LOVE 'N COURAGE evening on Monday, March 2 at 6 p.m. The National Arts Club (15 Gramercy Park South), it has been announced by Crystal Field, TNC's Executive Director (and an actress who appeared in SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS). Ms. Grimes will be awarded Theater for the New City's LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD.
