The 80th Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony and Luncheon was held yesterday afternoon, May 16, at the Marriott Marquis Times Square, where winners were announced for Distinguished Production of a Play, Distinguished Production of a Musical, Distinguished Revival of a Play, Distinguished Revival of a Musical, and the much coveted Distinguished Performance Award. The Freeman Studio to launch their ACTORS ALOUD series this Sunday, September 29 at 5PM at The Freeman Studio (79 Leonard Street). ACTORS ALOUD is a FREE event that will be moderated by Jack Doulin (Casting Director for New York Theater Workshop) and Scott Freeman, featuring leading actors and theatre professionals, discussing issues, obstacles and offering advice central to the lives of today's actors.
As first reported by Buzzfeed, Laura Prepon, who plays a former international drug-runner/dealer and girlfriend of series lead Taylor Schilling on Netflix's ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, will exit the series midway through the upcoming second season. Prepon will wrap her character's currently storyline before departing the Jenji Kohan-created series, with the option to return available.
